This is my issue with the sale websites as well. You have to clean and take good photos of all your items, write descriptive comments, price competitively, which usually has to be one of the top 3 - 5 if not the lowest, handle people not showing up, or people showing up who offer you $0.05 on the dollar, adjust your schedule, and give out your address to strangers who may just want to check if you have an alarm system in place. Then if you have young children, you have to either make arrangements to keep them occupied, or bring them with you.

DH always asks me if I really want to risk safety for $5. Once, I met a lady at 10 PM at the Indigo to do a trade. That worked out well, but I think it's the only one. I'm really dragging my feet on items like my wedding dress or an old TV we have. People would have to come into our house to see them/try them out, and that's not much of an incentive for me.

On the bright side, DH's co-worker has agreed to take our old crib. A friend gave it to us in case we needed it and she got it from a family member who put it through her three or four children. I'm going to include a full Noah's Ark bedding set with comforter, 2 fitted crib sheets, a bumper pad, and one of those decorations that hang on the headboard with squeaky toys and crinkly animals built in. It's almost too cute to get rid of and I could use the comforter for future daycare, but it's a selling tactic to get rid of everything as a set. I'll also be including a box of baby clothes and the crib mattress, printed assembly instructions in colour, and the additional repair bolts as it was involved in a recall. The crib is a solid wooden crib in oak and I sold it for $50 less than the lowest price on kijiji, but I won't have to have people coming in and out of the house offering me far less than it's worth.

Well, we'll see if DH actually remembers to ask for money or if I just gave it away for free. If I am giving it away for free, I'm keeping a few things!

@lizzie bargain: Have a great trip!

@Angela273: What horrible conditions! We're experiencing a drought. It's too bad we can't barter and trade weather conditions, like we give you a little warmth for a little cold, you give us a little rain, we give you a little sun...and then we'll all have nice weather!

I hope it ends soon for you and you have some good weather coming.

I couldn't imagine paying so much for grapes. I can't even imagine a grocery store paying that much just to "delight the farmers"! Talk about a random act of kindness and then to hand out the grapes for free.

They certainly are pretty, but no grapes are $14,317 pretty.

SS: did you see the part where they suggested grapes were 8.00 a pound here, holy moly I would not even pay that much less 14000.00.
I was on a planned vacation day today, did a few things any day the house, put a couple of loads on the line but mostly did nothing but read a book.
I did sell another item and lucky for me I sold the 2 Highest priced items this weekend so it's 50.00 in my fund. I have 5.00 pick up in the morning and the best part is this as something I would have previously put in goodwill. So out of 8 postings three are gone. Still seems a lot of work but then ask me once I make a couple hundred if I still feel this way.

I happened to be in the back yard with baby girl, trying to clean some things up, when I heard a big bang. I followed my instinct and checked out front. A guy hit my truck pretty good. He was helping a neighbour with their basement, but wasn't careful enough when he backed out his dulie truck. Took off my back lights and crusted in a section of the body. This is the 4th time that one of my trucks has been hit while parked in that exact same spot. I park close to the curb to try to help.

    @Angela273

All I can say is hugs and your week can only get better from here!

I got 11 hours of sleep last night in a row. I can't party like a teenager any more, but when tired...I can still sleep like one. I never did much partying in high school or university anyway...

Had a productive day. Tomorrow I watch my friend's 3 children all day and am having her alongside them [over] for dinner. 6 kids ages, 1, 2, ,3, 4, 5, 6, Should be fun. I have watermelon and veggies pre cut, cold pasta salad and PB sandwiches pre made, for dinner we will have meatball subs. The meatballs are pre cooked so I will just have to warm them in sauce.

Granger, well - WHEW! Thank goodness you've dispelled the rumour that you are a cannibal, lol!

The English teacher in me totally loves that you cared enough to make the correction!

@lilo0003 : I did see the suggested $8/lb for grapes, but it seemed like a pretty good deal compared to $14,000. Those may be the most amazing grapes ever, but at the end of the day, it's still just grapes. Imagine being one of the customers to get one for free though. I think I'd want to take it back to my family and cut it up because we'd never be eating one ever again! And then, that probably defeats the whole point of cultivating such large grapes in the first place.

@Angela273 : That's awful about your truck! Will it be covered by insurance?

This week, Caddle is offering $0.50 for a receipt for vitamins. I posted my prescription for prenatal vitamins and got $0.50! Another surprise find was $2 behind an old heavy desk in my new office at work. It must have been there for years!

We also found a dime out on our walk around the pond on the weekend. That one goes to LO's money box since she doesn't have a dime yet. We'll have to get a nickel for her too once we come across one.

@sweet sparrow - I've not taught for a while, so don't know a current publication which might be good. There are a lot of resources online - Grammar Girl is fairly good (I really miss The Grammar Lady - Mary Bruder - who was awesome; she has died. - she had a book out, but it may be hard to find.)

Perhaps Granger can give some recommendations...
