I was wondering why some people have been asked for additional information and others have not. Can anyone who has been asked to provide their Drivers License or Utility Bill confirm if they have moved within the last year or so? I'm wondering of they look the names and addresses on the electoral roll and these people may mot have updated information yet? Or they aren't Canadian Citizens and so they aren't on it because they can't vote?

I am asked to provide additional information and my husband got his card a week ago. I have not moved for 6 years and am a Canadian Citizen for ages.I am hesitant to provide additional information though.

My close friend filled out a request for her brother, who has Down's Syndrome. He could have filled it out himself, but he was at work (he's had a pretty decent job with good benefits for 20+ years). He does not have a DL and he lives in a home with three other folks--they do not have Utilities in their names. He has been asked to provide extra information as well.
It's discriminatory to utilize this Utilities/DL as verification of a human bread purchaser.

I am sure that if your friend contacted them directly and explained the circumstance they would just issue the card. I am sure your friends brother is not the only one in this boat and loblaws would probably not want the bad publicity if they declined someone in his position.
I disagree with what they are doing with the drivers license thing but i think that it is the result of the masses of people that are trying to defraud them that flagged a lot of the claims that have not been processed thus far. Your friends brothers claim may of been flagged for something as simple as there was another person in the same house hold that said only one person resided there that was also was claiming for the 25.00 and a call or email may rectify the situation quickly

I only applied for myself (one card) for the household and I got the email today asking me to provide a bill or ID to prove address. I m not going to do so for $25. I don't think it matters if you applied more than 1 per household or just one like my case, you might still be ask to provide more info.

Oh I know that it will get sorted but it bites my bum to think of the amount of cash this actually is for an individual compared to the amount of corporate fraud that precipitated this token gesture. I understand fraud is awful, but for the number of homeless, elderly, infirm, disabled and people who just don't know about these cards who aren't going to be requesting their cards I suppose I don't think it's fair to make some individuals jump through hoops.

Instead of giving this lousy $ 25 GC and demanding ID's. Another PR nightmare, How about just reduce the price of bread in store ?
They could have just deliberately dropped the price of bread in their store for 1 year or so. No fraud would have taken place and most people would have recovered the $ 25 that way with low grocery prices.
If they could increase/price fix the prices for 14 years and commit fraud & gouge people for way more than $ 25 over 14 years, surely they can artificially reduce the prices for 1 year or so.
No need to mail cards, collect people's personal info, waste time & energy, envelopes, paper, stamps , gas ( not too eco friendly ) in sending 25 bucks out .

You won't believe me if I tell you, a few years back when I got my Public Library card, all I had to do was just show a Utility bill , they did not check any other form of ID or asked for one !.
They just wanted to know if I lived in the city or worked in the city to get a Library card.
I can borrow up to 50 items at any given time - books, DVD's, CD's , Expensive videos games like Xbox, PS4, Nintendo etc.
You will be surprised how much stuff you can just do with a utility bill.
Lot of retail store clerks at FIDO, Rogers, Bell are on commission basis, they are overworked, stressed & underpaid. The management is on their ass to get results, sales, & meet quotas. So they don't care.
They will open a Cell phone account for you, just with your utility bill to get their commissions & reach their numbers. You can walk out with a brand new highly subsidised phone.
An Equifax credit check will be done, but that will take place on someone else if you present them with their utility bill ( not you ) & the sale will go through !

It's been said a number of times a utility bill with your "critical info" blacked out will do. Remember you have already given your name. address and email.
I am surprised at the number of "ID theft wary" folks even applied for this.
Some people will not respond to them because they do not exist. More than 1 person created a "New family".

Received my husband card today. It was the same address with mine and there was no email asked id or anything else.
