WIND WARNING
Issued at 10:58 Tuesday 16 October 2018
Strong winds that may cause damage are expected or occurring.
A swath of strong southerly winds gusting to between 80 and 100 km/h have developed over southwestern Newfoundland this morning and will spread quickly eastward across the Island during the day. These winds will be followed by a more prolonged period of strong southwesterlies gusting to between 80 and 120 km/h. Winds will gradually diminish overnight into Wednesday morning.

Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. Loose objects may be tossed by the wind and cause injury or damage.
Wind warnings are issued when there is a significant risk of damaging winds.

..we didn't blow away!! the wind howled last night 100+ km/hr wind gust but started to diminish overnight...7 feels like 3 winds 40km/hr today...now looking forward to 20-30mm of rain tomorrow

Ohhhh yesterday was nasty day here ..80 to 100 Km/h of wind 💨 and lots and lots of rain ..wicked old day on rock ..finally calm down by 11:00am today .. then sun finally found us again for few hours ,then we got couple rain shower During afternoon .then back nice again ..main thing we didn’t blow off the rock

SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
Issued at 10:19 Friday 19 October 2018
Heavy rainfall expected Saturday night into Sunday night.
Showers are forecast to begin over western Newfoundland Saturday morning and spread eastwards throughout the day. Heavy rain is expected Saturday night into Sunday over western and central Newfoundland, but will continue into Sunday night over the Burin Peninsula. Total rainfall amounts of 50 to 100 mm are possible before the rain tapers off over all areas Sunday night and Monday morning.
The public is advised to clear storm drains from leaves and other debris.
Heavy downpours can cause flooded roadways and washouts. Rapidly rising rivers can sweep away bridges, culverts, and buildings.
Rainfall warnings may be issued in subsequent forecasts.
