I have noticed their sales are not as good as they used to be and I can get better deals elsewhere and even their everyday prices are higher than other local stores for those items that never go on sale.
Measured by usual driving time, I also go 2-3x as far to shop at RCSS, although in my case the difference is 8-10 minutes vs 3-5. The main reason is PCO. Even pre-COVID when I'd do smaller more frequent shops, I'd almost always get at least a few points, plus RCSS was and is more familiar from shopping there much more often. Otoh, WM gives me little reason to go in except for when they have something I want that I can't PM at RCSS. Otherwise, I'd simply get it at RCSS since I'd be there anyway, almost always collecting at least a few points.

So pre-pandemic, I'd only go to WM about once a month. Since March, because I try to avoid additional, less important store visits even when doing so means I save a bit less, I think I've only been there once.

I guess for me part of small town living is that you are used to driving to get to things. We only got a Wal-Mart maybe 5ish years ago and honestly I find our local Wal-Mart hit and miss on having stock. Most of the time we ended up driving to the one by RCSS so I might as well shop at RCSS as they have better selection, what they have seems to be better quality as others have mention Meat and Produce are hit and miss at Wal-Mart.

Plus right now the branch I am working in is closed to a different RCSS so it is like 5 minutes down the road from where I am working right now an Mom works in the same plaza as the one we normally shop at. Even when we are not working it is worth the drive for more options when needed, when we only need a few things we shop locally.

For us to have to have drive 30ish minutes for something is nothing to us but that is the joy of small town living.

    Good earlier afternoon everyone!!!
What a great start to the afternoon going to the orchard is!!!!! First stopped by maxi and cie to buy another 3 pound butternut squash..I will put this one in the locker, more chilly and use it later.
I went to the orchard and they have a store -boutique too.Dumb me I did not hit the ok green button on the terminal so my debit card was refuted 2 time ,3 time I decided to just paid cash...Sometime the terminal say to hit the green ok button sometime no or sometime the cashier did it for you..I was confused I guess...
Purchased apples,(did not harvest some, not the varieties I hate was not avaiaible) ,4 apples turnovers, because they are so crazy good made with puff pastry,a chocolate-apple homemade bread ,apple juice natural, and 1 maple caramel to spread on my toasts ,on the bread and bagels...I looked at a gift bascket but was not in my budget...

Did a reorganisation of my fridge so now I have place to put away my soup I will make..only 2 slices of meatloafs, mashed patatoes and 1 bag of baby carrots where bad..I am not feeling good about food wasting I hate that

Enjoy the afternoon all,.the colors where just gorgeous at the orchard and down the road.

    Happy thanksgiving friends.

Purchase of the cottage closed on Thursday evening. It was not a frugal week. We enjoyed spending the weekend there and even started pulling wall paper and priming the walls. We left it winterized so will not be heading back until the spring when we will start renos. I had fun picking up decor and little bits for inspiration and to make the cottage our own. I am mack-tacking the outdated TV trays with a cute pattern. I brought them home to finish.

My weight has been up and down over the past few years. I can tell you stress and what you eat are the biggest factors for me. Exercise does minimal to change my weight.

Butternut squash puree soup is done and smell awesome.next time I will use 4 cups of water not 5 it was too liquid so ..I had to reduce the soup 5 minutes more at medium heat
about to make my apple cake...I begin 1 hour later than supposed because I forget to put the eggs at room temperature grr... but it is an easy 6 ingrediants recepie so should not be to long to make....and have to do the dishes after that...after I will eat lol
Love cooking and baking, should make this more often!
