Happy Friday!
Was a wicked storm that passed through last evening. I could feel the darkness so opened the window to watch.
Thankfully no damage or power outages for us.
We almost picked something up for dinner last night but then figured it out- Grilled cheese with fries! Something simple but it did the trick.
The laundry I washed yesterday is dry and ready to put away. I should do another load of odds and ends today and hang to dry.
Window is open and it such nice fresh cool air coming in!
Packing up soon so ready to hit the road this afternoon to my sister's. Looking forward to a night of relaxing and gabbing!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Good Morning Everyone,
Ran out first thing this morning to grab a few things at the store before it go too hot. I had breaking a sweat carrying in groceries. We did not need a lot but a few deals I wanted to grab.
At Sobey's they have canned tomatoes for $1.49 (seems to be the new "it" price) plus 100 pts for every 3 cans so I grabbed 6 cans, 4 crushed and 2 diced.
As I was leaving I saw they had the 4L Spring water jugs on 2/$3 plus 50 pts if buy 2 so I grabbed 2. I always like to keep a couple in the basement just incase. We have a few instances where our water has been turned off in error but then can't be turned back on until whatever is going on is finished.
At No Frills, I grabbed Mushrooms, Zucchini, 2 x Apple Sauce, 4 x Pasta Sauce, everything but the mushrooms were on sale. Normally I buy the Classico which we love but try a different one as we are almost out of Pasta sauce and I like to have a couple jars on hand for quick meals when needed. Hoping we like this one.
I also grabbed 2 of the 8 KG bags of No Name Long Grain Rice, I had an offer spend $30 get 4500 pts and I figured since this is the rice we always buy and it never goes on sale might as well stock up with a points offer.
I really need to get back to sorting and washing my clothes. I think I might try posting some online and see if they go. I will check out Style Encore but will see if any move this way. There are going to be a A LOT. I have already filled one tote and still have a lot more to wash and sort through. Plus I now have a pile in my room is try on and decide if I want to keep or get rid of.
Lots of projects I can tackle this weekend but will see how it goes.

A bit of a rant, I have been looking for some new clothes because as I sort my clothes I see how few "nicer" outfits I have.
Why are all tops cropped or snug????
I understand the body positivity movement but I like to be covered up. I am not going to lie my stomach is an insecurity so I like to cover it. Not to mention even if I did wear shorter tops I would not wear them to work. I find most of the "fanicer" are short or cropped, they either show stomach or are mention to sit right on the waistband.
I have looked at 3 different stores and am having so many issues finding tops which normally when I shop 97% of what I buy is tops because I hate buying pants and shoes. Guess this is just my sign to keep moving forward with becoming a summer dress girly.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

@Angela273 Congrats to your brother and his wife.....terrific that your newborn nephew is thriving!
@coupon girl , wasn't that an awesome price on the corn?! Sadly we won't use 12 cobs up in time so
I never made a trip to FB, but at NF I was surprised to see they had some for .16 cents each, so I grabbed 5.
I was happy to spoil DS paying $3.00 a box for his Honey Bunches of Oats cereal. ( grabbed 4 )
@SassyAshley GRRR to the way fashion ( especially with tops! ) tries to force certain looks on consumers.
I like a loose flowing top, preferably with a 3/4 sleeve and long enough to cover the backside! ha ha
About the grocery items that were on sale, I also grabbed 3 of the .88 /lb. zucchinis.
We were huge fans of Classico sauce too until they started diluting it! The price has shot up too high for us now.
So $2.00 a jar is a good price for Garden Select, which is what we used prior to Classico.
An inside day for me, happy about that since the extreme heat is back again today!

Walked into my Shell station and the lady had already bagged the items for salvage. She even had some older items, that would normally have been thrown away at the beginning of the week. How considerate of her! She deliberately held them back, knowing that I would come in at the end of the week. A total of 16x sandwiches and 4x wraps were recovered. 2x were given to Walmart workers, I ate one, and 6x ended up with my 85-yr old neighbour; it's probably the only meat he will eat this month.

Good Morning Everyone,
Up early and enjoying the quiet of the morning. Plus can I just say this cup of tea I just made myself is a really good cup of tea.
I have 101 things I could be doing today but so far the ambition to get up and get them done is not there.
I got into a bit of a funk this week because I was looking at my calendar and August is going to be a bit of a busy month. It is funny, I set my own schedule but I hate when I have things back to back to back but, I need to stop trying to plan so far ahead and just deal with what is right in front of me.
Last night I just was not feeling it, so I did order pizza for dinner. We rarely eat take-out but I still budget for it and Mom did throw out a couple times about wishing she had some extra $$$ for take-out so pizza it was, mainly because it is local. The other option is about 15 minutes away and that felt like too much last night.
I should try to find some ambition.

Got caught in a hail storm. I thought that it was going to last awhile and that there was no point in trying to wait for it to pass. I just started walking and it came down in sheets, blasting me full in the face with hail. Sigh, just as I approached home, it stopped! Arggggh. Oh, well. The worst day of weather outside still beats the best day in the office.
My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

Inquiring mind want to know: ???
How do you store yours patatoes for not going bad ,rotten and germinate and that last longer???
I lost 1 bag of 10 lbs patatoes .
They are all rotten.bad and germinate...
Of coarse they where in sale but still piss me off....
I will wait to buy another bag when it will be in sale.
Not paying 7,00$ a bag of patatoes....
We dont eat a lot of patatoes .We only do mashed patatoes...
So I am considering buying them at the lbs not in bag but not sure it is worthed...
I will do my menu planning without patatoes I guess....
That suck....Last edited by cath007; Sat, Jul 26th, 2025 at 10:12 PM.

I recently lost some, too. They were also bought, while on sale. Still, it is a shame to see them go to waste. I tried to eat them as fast as possible.

You said that you bought yours for $7 on sale. That seems pretty expensive, to me. I get mine for about $0.20/lb, while on sale. I usually take them out of the plastic bag and put them into paper bags, to minimize the moisture. Routine inspection can help you remove/eat the ones that are beginning to go bad. I used to spray them with a vinegar solution, to try and reduce the fungal growth, but it did not have much overall effect. The internal rot seems to be unaffected.
I don't really mind if they germinate. I just cut them up, as normal, and eat the new 'eyes', just like they are regular parts of the potato. It's all vegetable matter. My food may not befit a king, but I eat like a horse.

@HermanH:
I think you misread me.
I would never pay the regular 7,00$ price.
I bought them at 2,99$ I think.
Soon, the new harvest of QC patatoes will come and they will be on sale.So I am waiting.Last edited by cath007; Sun, Jul 27th, 2025 at 01:45 AM.
