Cath ,hugs ,it sure is hard to lose a loved pet.
Walkonby ,good you are getting young guys to rip the bathroom apart .It was hard for my hubby just to change the tap 2 weeks ago-lying on his back under the sink .
Well i would have love to go out and finish buying my 2 gift cards ,but day 9 of cold here and my stomach feels like someone sucker punched it .So just resting with my magic bean bag .

I wish every pet could pass like Punkin, my devoted avatar cat, did. She was 23, so barely active any more, but not unhealthy aside from being very old. She was still able to get up on my desk where there was a box within easy reach. That was where she spent most of her days. Since I worked from home for the last 15+ years of her life, we were "always" together.
We knew her time was coming before much longer. Apparently, she did too. One day, she hopped up by me, got in the box and after a while, simply stopped breathing, as peaceful a death as I could possibly imagine.

Good Evening Everyone,
Kind of a busy day here, but mostly in my head.
Does anyone else find when you need to do something it is all your brain can focus on. I had to move the cars for them to plow so the plan was to move Mom's car and then take the loaner and swap cars as mine came back this morning. All morning I keep feeling like I was running late so finally at 10, I decided it was time.
I shovelled the stairs, cleaned the cars, moved Mom, and then remembered I still needed to fill up the loaner as last week when I tried the pump kept shutting off. I was able to fill it this time but the whole time you are filling it you have to angle the pump up and if you let it slip even a little it turns off. Then off to swap cars but I could not find the key for my car. Went to drop off my tires since I have nowhere to store them at home and then found out where my spare key was so back to pick it up.
On the way home I had to fill my car and ran into No Frills. Grabbed 10 bags of the $0.99 pasta plus sour cream, clementines, spaghetti squash, a butternut squash and some crackers. Everything was on sale.
Got home and back to work, I love how happy everyone is that inventory is off but the official count is over but now it is all the background work which is my speciality so still quite a bit going on. My co-worker is still off we should find out this week if they will be able to come back after shutdown or need to extend their leave.
Decided on an enchilada casserole for the Potluck so will make that tonight and take it in a slow cooker tomorrow.
Got invited to another Potluck next week. Thinking Pasta for the one.
Will work a little late tonight to make up for the car swap and time away from my desk. Want to get some of it off my plate so I can work on other things.2022 is going to be my year, the year I find organization in my life and the year I focus on myself,

@Arjon I thought certain you had made a typo.....your lovely cat Punkin was 23? Then I googled and sure enough some cats can and do in fact have long lives
depending of course on genetics, being an inside cat and diet. What a treasure she must have been to enjoy while you worked from home.

Yes indeed. She was my almost constant companion for most of her life. My wife would occasionally joke that I spent more time with Punkin than with her, which could actually have been true. While each of the half-dozen pets I've lost over the years was very dear to me, she is the one I remember most often and most fondly.

Good day.
Back in the hotel room last night around 9pm..... Tired but awake and thinking about he drive home...messaged my sister and she said no snow all day so decided to pack up and head home from Toronto at 11pm! Best decision ever! Roads were dry and clear. Traffic thin and made it home in record time.
Was so nice to wake up in own bed and start the day (vacation day).
Ordered a Flashfood fresh box $5 (8 Granny smith apples! 5 red apples 1 lemon 3 limes 1 package cherry tomatoes, 2 onions, 5 peppers, 10 clementines)
Most excited about the Granny smith apples- My fav but haven't had them in a long long time (the price has been crazy on them!!) Will use up the veggies tomorrow night and make fahitas!
I did running around. Stopped at many stores, Picking up the deals. Bought a GC for Starbucks to go with gift for DS's girlfriend (picked up some things in the summer for her) Found $2 Royal TP coupons so bought 3 packages for DS to go with his Christmas bag lol (for his studio) Then he won't need to take ours lol.
Went to the bank to deposit cash. Went to the town office and paid cash on Water/sewer bill (have a nice credit)
Washed my car (it was filthy and nice to get all the snow build up off!)
Have a nice day!

Luckily we have power this morning. A wicked rain and wind storm last night knocked it out for so many but thankfully we got it back, others aren’t so fortunate. The building across the street kept power so I wanted them to turn their tv facing the window so we could watch too
but we went to bed instead. It was actually perfect timing as o had just finished cooking dinner and we had just sat down to eat and a few bites in it went out, otherwise we’d be eating cold oats instead
. We checked in on my parents and a few older friends /neighbour's to make sure they were okay. They were good.
I have a dr appointment this morning and was planning to walk but I may drive if the weather doesn’t let up.
Then I’m planning to clean out and organize the fridge.
Have a great day everyone

Morning! Happy Wednesday. Mild temps means the snow on our roofs will melt which is a good thing! It was piling up high already.
I will go out in a bit and shovel the slush out of the drive way so it is nice and clean before it freezes back up.
Looks like it will be a busy work day (payback for taking 2 days off this week) but will make the day go by quickly.
In the process of cutting up the peppers and onions for dinner. Will marinate the chicken and potatoes and pop it in the fridge too so all I have to do later is cook it up...probably do it on oven sheets to keep it simple! -
I made fruit bowls for a snack last night (my kids never say no to that!) And will do it again tonight so we are using up the apples and clementines from the flashfood box (and pineapple I cut up last night) Have a green one on back up for in a few days.
We have so much bread in the freezer that I am putting myself on a bread purchasing freeze. DS isn't taking sandwiches anymore these days so all the fresh bread kept being put in the freezer. It's Rye and it toasts up great so it will get used up... I will have an omelette for breakfast tomorrow and use a piece of the bread (will put aside a bit of the peppers and onions now!)
Ok I better get back to work- Feeling the end of the year crunch....not many work days left with vacation days, stats and bonus days off we were given
Have a wonderful day!

@coupon girl that was a successful ( and physically demanding ) trek you had, especially finding a Tim's GC. Tough to believe they were sold out at the other store. There are some.......
o.k. MOST of my last minute gifts have been bought online ( amazon ) and we prefer to give food or beverage items. There are lots of unique artisan foods suitable for both my sisters. Trouble was I never expected a Company to send me a NEARLY expired product! GRRRR!
I had bought 3 boxes to use as gifts to go with the other food items bought.

No returns on foods with amazon BUT they issued me a FULL refund immediately once I sent in the pics.
I also left a lousy review on that Sellers page.Last edited by walkonby; Wed, Dec 17th, 2025 at 04:09 PM.
