But as of today, Sobey's has their Grade A young turkeys for .99/lb, so that's where I'm getting ours.
Fresh turkey would be awesome, but here it would be about four times the price.

    Hm... I wonder why?
We do usually have ham - a nice 'real' one can be gotten for around $4/kg - which is about 1.80/lb. This year, though, I want a turkey - since we don't do it for Christmas either... it's been ages since we had one!

So it's fun looking up grocery flyers in French!
Interesting that places offer capon (Supermarche PA, 1.99/lb) - that's hard to find here.

    Mourelatos Supermarkets -
Fresh turkey, 1.99/lb --- wow, if it were that price here, I'd sure be buying fresh.
    Fresh Butterball turkey, 2.49/lb

And wowsers on some of the other prices of general grocery items! Awesome!

I told my friend (where I'm going on Sunday if I can ditch this cold) to go to Metro the other day. He paid $19 for a frozen turkey (he's fussy so it has to be decent quality), 5lbs of potatoes, stuffing, gravy, a bag of frozen peas, cranberry sauce, a couple of buns, & something else I can't remember - enough to feed the 15 people he's expecting. They had a special on a complete Thanksgiving meal kit. I'm still working on converting him to coupon use, but at least he listened to me about the sale.

Dear Mrs. Toonie!!!! (get it, Toonie Saskatoonie!)

Guess what? In my travels today I found young turkeys at .99 at Metro. Tiny ones the size of pigeons but I got one anyways. LOL 3-7kg. I am still going to get a fresh one from the butcher. Usually he has them for $1.99 lb I will splurge because everyone likes the fresh better and they always want leftovers for a week. I will use the frozen one for stock and stir fries.

    Signed,

    No longer turkeyless in Skankville

Last year I was speaking with my butcher and he said that the reason they don't have many turkeys here is because it's more of an anglo holiday. I guess I never realized it before because I would always stock up on turkleys at .99 cents during the year until I started trying to get fresh ones at this time of year.

Mourelatos is a greek store and they have amazing prices on lots of stuff. Oh and the pastries!!! I wish I had one coser to me. ANyhoo you can never get close to these places anyways they are always so busy. Bonanza is another one. Usually get pasta for .49 a bag.
