  1. Thinking of you today, Andi.......

  2. Hi, Andi, hope the suggestion works WHEN you buy fresh breadmaker yeast!
I'm fine, walking better month by month with the help of pain drugs...not so much for my knee, as my hip; just fallin' apart lately!
No, Jenny does not regard being chased around the coffee table beneath her station. First we play toss and fetch the squeaky thing (twice is her limit, then she just disregards it), then I have to chase her and try to catch her butt...lol...I get tired much faster than she does. Then she goes to 'her' leather chair in the front window, looks me up and down as if to say, "sit!", which I obediently do (after getting my coffee/tea,phone,remote) and there we sit, watching the world go by...they're such a comfort, aren't they?
Take care, Sweetie...I do have a couple of fool-proof (no offence ) bread machine recipes I'll PM to you, okay? Tomorrow.
  3. Thanks for the tip. Do you have any more? My booboo was in using ancient yeast that had zero interest in rising. Oh well, at least the garbage disposal, I mean Lily dog enjoyed it.

How are things with you? Still doing physio? Has Jenny convinced you to chase her round the house? Or is she too dignified for that?
  4. Hey stranger! All is well at the moment (still not quite 100% from the little excitement I had with the food poisoning and 3 day vacation (hah!) at the hospital. Brats are fine (Lily dog still coughs once in a while, but as long as she has her bounce back, all is well).

How are you doing? Still have physio? Have you started dancing with Jenny yet?
  5. Glad you liked it.

You are a much nicer human than I am - I constantly flip Lily dog's ears inside out & insist she stay still so I can make a full inspection (can't risk and infection). I do the same thing with Quincy cat, but his ears refuse to stay inside out. & he insists on ignoring me & snuggling close so I can't do an inspection.
  6. Oh, good heavens!!!! That was amazing. But no. Jenny would never fall for that. Being a princess and all, and not knowing she's a d-o-g (we haven't told her, yet), I'm pretty sure she'd feel she's too highly evolved to do tricks.
But that was unbelievable...when it went backwards?! Omg!! It is good to see, however, that the same ear flips up as Jenny's...one of the major responsibilities of a Doxie owner is to continuously place the ear in the factory authorized position. Thank you for posting it to me...what a darling pup!!
  7. Hey, stranger! Hope Jenny is taking care of you (& forcing you to do your physio).

I just posted this vid & thought of you. It might give you ideas on fun ways to do physio.

  8. Oh, Andi, I hope Lily-dog just has a little case of the flu or too much sun....sending healing thoughts her way....hugs, Lynn
  9. bff thinks Quincy cat is such a lover boy because I took him in from the cold mean streets of the city. It's funny, I'm much more of a disciplinarian than any cat owner I know, & yet my boy is more clingy than any of their kitties. It's why I call him my jealous boyfriend (he has to sniff me from head to toe when I've been out, in case I dared to hang out with another cat! ).

Hope you are having a wonderful Mother's day!
  10. I love doggy kisses too, and would absolutely be prepared with a cookie in hand! You can have Quincy.......although she is a sweet looking cat.....male cats are known to be more affectionate, right? Pht...guys...go figure....
  11. Actually, Quincy cat is the affectionate one, Lily dog is the party girl. Quincy cat constantly screams at me to hold him & squish him. I had to teach Lily dog to kiss (a friend of mine likes getting doggy kisses, but it's not Lily's thing...unless there's a chance of getting a cookie for her actions ).
  12. Hi, Andi...gosh time flies! I hope good memories of Tory fish replace your sadness soon, Hon; I know how difficult losing a beloved pet can be. Jenny still accompanies me wherever
I go and is once again sweet company on our swing outside, although this week's weather may cut our swinging short.
So life is going to get pretty exciting in your corner of the world! No running away from home while the athletes and tourists invade?
I hope you and your critters have a weekend full of hugs and kissings...at least Lily dog knows about things like that! Take care, Sweetie!
  13. Still in a bit of shock over Tory fish (I get sooo attached to all the critters in my world).

How are things with you? Is Jenny keeping you on your toes?

Last night, I found out a few more details about the 8000 guests coming to my neighbourhood (welcome PanAm athletes!). Chaos, confusion and lots of fun!
  14. Well, not everyone is blessed with a brain.

Dealing with some stress right now - bff's Dad likely has cancer, won't know for sure til they meet with the oncologist on Friday. Praying it's early stages & something can be done.

On the plus side, in 1 month I will be spoiled rotten on board the cruise ship. Looking forward to good food & good company (going with the other bff). I'll have to go on a serious diet when I get back (I already know I'm going to overdo it with a 5 course meal followed by a quick trip to the buffet.
  15. Thank you, Andi....I couldn't believe someone would toss off a statement like that! You and I both know (unfortunately) how it is to live with similar kinds of pain...you've certainly been through more than most of us over the years! Old age my A$$! LOL....THAT I can live with!
I hope you're having a pretty darn good day, Sweetheart!
  16. Haha. Believe it or not, I've had others tell me that. It's on my to-do list. Too bad I keep getting interrupted by someone wanting to play.

    How is life with Jenny?
  17. I'm finally back to normal (well, as normal as I can ever be). No proof of what was going on with me all summer, although I'm 99% sure it was that darn infection that presented with weird symptoms (Dr thought I was going into rejection). A couple of rounds of cipro did the trick and now I have more energy than I've had in a year.

I did have another minor, um, procedure - mini laser surgery on my eye to get it ready for the bigger surgery in the new year (no date yet). The issues with the detached retina coupled with the drugs I'm on led to a cataract, so that needs to be dealt with. Then, maybe I can see again. On the plus side, with only one eye going strong, I only see half the mess around here.

How are you doing? You have surgery coming up soon, right? How is the physio? I fully expect you to be chasing Jenny around the house by Xmas. No more slacking off (this, from a gal who got winded playing hide and seek with Lily yesterday).
  18. Lol...yes, I knew Quincy was a little boy, but what I meant was that we didn't see as many pics of Lily Dog in the doggie thread...she seems to have Jenny's calm personality.. Lily, I mean, not Quincy..
And how are you, Andi...I've lost track of how you're doing lately, although I know there was another recent problem; geez, I get so wrapped up in my own little problems. Dang. And of course the brain isn't snapping at attention the way it used to. Stay well, Sweetheart...we need you to be healthy!!!
  19. Actually Quincy cat is a boy (not that you would know it, given the pink nose and pink paw pads). It doesn't help that I have a habit of putting him in a pink dress, er, shirt, to match the pink nose. Of course, living in downtown Toronto, I just tell folks he's metrosexual and embracing a fashion statement.

    How are things with you?
  20. ...that rep was suppose to end with: the cat. Not Lily Dog. More pics of her in the dog thread, please...?
  21. Still no results, likely it will be Mon (I'm stopping in to get bloodwork done, so may as well bother, er, say hi to the dr ).

I know about not wanting to disturb the little ones. Quincy cat LOVES to come over & throw himself on my feet. Not so bad when I'm on the couch or at the desk, a wee bit creepy when he opens the bathroom door and plunks himself down.

We had a do-nothing day, a little housework, but mostly watching old Hitchcock films. I wouldn't recommend Rich & Strange, at least not the scene where they are in a Chinese junk (kept hoping it would turn into a more standard Hitchcock - the husband was a piece of work & should have been left in pieces ).

Going to go pick up 10lbs of beets tomorrow and try my hand at my Mom's recipe for pickled beets. Way better than pickles, especially with schnitzel. All good health foods, right?

Hope you can stand up again, or is that it for the rest of the night - furry little footwarmer there til dawn?
  22. Oh, gosh, Andi, although I don't wish any health issues on you, I sure hope you're right and your doctor is wrong!! Although viruses are no heck, either...I've been battling a choking cough for several months, sleeping only an hour at a time most nights, which our doc, after several tests which thankfully didn't find anything, has determined it to be a virus that has made it's home in me and will leave when it decides to. However he's changed my asthma med to Advair, hoping it will help. We'll see.
So when will you have any a definite diagnosis?

As for dogs and cats, specifically yours, honestly, you could write a cartoon strip! Your descriptions bring to mind such vivid pictures! Jenny is presently settled along one if her favourite spots....stretched out between my legs, on our fluffy blankie, with her head cradled across my ankles. I think I lost feeling in my legs about a half hour ago, but would I consider moving her? Away from my bad leg? Heaven forbid!
  23. As for a winter scene? Noooo!!!!!! I still haven't experienced summer!!! Although, I did have to put a doggy coat on the cat the other day (then he changed his mind and decided he really didn't have to go outside for fresh air ).

Hope all is well. How is the physio? Planning any marathons yet?
  24. A few bumps on the health front. Still waiting for results to tell me what's going on (doctor thinks the transplant has gone wonky, my theory is the yr of stress I've had combined with an underlying infection that didn't go away with the last course of antibiotics is making me feel weird - we'll see who's right ).

& as much as I love my "jealous boyfriend", I'm a dog person. I wish I could take video of my guys "playing" - Quincy cat sits in a box & jumps out when Lily dog goes past. Sometimes he grabs her tail, sometimes her back leg. Then the poor girl stops dead and cries to me, so I have to have a chat with the rotten boy. Of course, Lily is no saint, she's been known to bop poor the poor boy on the head with her teddy bear as she rushes past (& I know darn well it was accidentally on purpose ).
  25. Andi...the first part of that video and I was saying, "cats are evil"...but later on I forgave them; aren't dogs perfect though? Although you have both and I know you love them both dearly and they get along so well. Animals have so much to teach us. So are you enjoying your fall weather? We woke up to 3C today with a promise of 0C tomorrow morning! I changed our screensaver to a winter scene of our house my hubby took last year..might as well get accustomed to the idea.
    How are you lately, Andi?
  26. My neighbour sent me this.

Lily has seen other cats, lives with a cat, but for some reason is obsessed with a neighbour's cat. She hasn't actually seen K in about 3 yrs, but whenever she sees the neighbour, she starts to cry, hoping she has a chance to go visit and play (which consists of the kitty ignoring her, while Lily crawls up close, and then swatting my poor doggy on the nose...which Lily thinks is great fun).
  27. How`s the physio going? Hopefully, the pain is less and less each time (got to build up those muscles). If you need someone to vent to who`s been there, done that (and both at once, cause I can`t do anything the easy way ), you know where I am.

Take care & let Jenny spoil you.
  28. As long as you're doing your exercise, all is well (take it from me - I was stuck in the air casts for 2 yrs, so lost a lot of muscle in my calf - still can't run upstairs, not that that's a high priority for me ).

As for Lily and toys, well, everything is a toy. Balls, stuffed animals, clothes (both seem to have a sock obsession - Lily likes to help me take them off, Quincy just steals them and hides them in his bed, the pervert ). The second best toy ever is a paper towel roll, only to be surpassed by Xmas wrap rolls. It's just so much fun to run around banging into things with a "stick" that long (even better if we accidentally smack the rotten kitty when he steals the sunny patch on the carpet ).

Brats are dozing, enjoying the heat (we have AC just never use it). Better go get them some beef popsicles (only in my world does a freezer contain nothing but ice cream and beef popsicles ).
