Oh, KK7 I'm the same way - I got into the SPCA and don't want to leave! Same with kittens for adoption at PetSmart/petcetera... I want a houseful!
Jo, those kittens are SO sweet. My kitty is now a big boy - almost six months!

Okay need advice ASAP
I HAVE to get new carpet in my house but my 3 cats destroy the carpet on my stairs. The love the scratch the corners especially.
I have so far tried clipping claws, place orange peel, and tin foil but nothing works
I really can't have them destroying my new carpet.
Any help??? Much appreciated.

Try spritzing a bit of vinegar. Most critters don't like the smell.
Or you could put booties on your cats.

Don't know how well booties will work but these worked quiet well with Quincy

They are nail caps you put over their claws, they come with a nail glue, you put a drop in and put it over their claw, and they fall off naturally as the claw grows.
They can still scratch but no damage (and its super cute if you do them in different colours)

I'd go with a deterrent spray! Or stick double sided tape where you don't want them to scratch

I would squirt lemon juice(slightly diluted) on the areas you don't want him to do that...test a spot on the carpet first.....

I second the double sided tape, I have heard this works well. And a good squirt of water if you catch them in the act will help them to realize they're not supposed to do that.
I love cats. I like dogs but I find they're a lot more work. Cats are just....awesome. My husband fears that if he dies before me I will turn into a cat lady and he's probably right He doesn't know how many times I've sat at the computer looking at free cats being given away and wondering if there's a way to sneak a cat into the house<center><embed src="http://www.widdlytinks.com/myfamily/silhouettes/silhouettefamily.swf" flashvars="t1=The Bernard Family&pv1=0&pn1=6&px1=251.55&pf1=1&pv2=0&pn2=22&p x2=186.8&pf2=0&pv3=0&pn3=12&px3=305.85&pf3=1&pv4=1 &pn4=9&px4=278.8&pf4=0&pv5=1&pn5=3&px5=226.8&pf5=1 &pv6=0&pn6=1&px6=102.8&pf6=1&pv7=1&pn7=24&px7=317. 8&pf7=1" quality="high" wmode="transparent" name="My Family Silhouettes" allowscriptaccess="samedomain" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" align="middle" height="230" width="500">

My BF had 3 cats when I met him so I turned into a crazy cat lady as soon as we moved in together lol
Double sided tape doesn't work here, Quincy LOVES tape, he will work the corners until he gets it and pull it up and then he runs around with the strip of tape in his mouth, if we leave the roll out he chews on it - I guess thats why the nail caps worked better

I have my living room window open today because there is such a nice cool breeze. So I went upstairs to clean when I came back down realized the screen had blown off. I stuck it back on then thought to myself, Where is Buttons?........
Omg he is on the roof!! I ran to the window and he was no where to be seen, when I called his name I saw a little head pop around the neighbors window sill, apparently he was spying on the neighbors.
Had to take a picture.Last edited by Miss_April; Mon, Aug 23rd, 2010 at 12:07 PM.
