SPECIAL WEATHER STATEMENT
ssued at 05:37 Friday 22 December 2017
A fast-moving low pressure system will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to Newfoundland on Sunday.
Precipitation is expected to begin as snow across the Island during the early morning hours on Sunday before transitioning to freezing rain and finally to rain by mid-morning.
Although the bulk of the precipitation will have fallen by the afternoon, rainfall amounts could exceed warning criteria in a few short hours, especially along the south coast.
Another intense storm is expected to follow closely on its heels, bringing potentially significant snow, rain, and wind across Newfoundland on Monday night.
Though this storm is still several days away, meteorologists will continue to keep a watchful eye on its development and will provide more details as they become available

A fast moving low pressure system will bring a wintry mix of precipitation to Newfoundland tonight into Sunday.
Snow will spread southwest to northeast across the Island tonight and change through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain. The transition will take place by Sunday morning over southern Newfoundland and by afternoon in the north.
The rain will be heaviest over southern Newfoundland, where amounts of 20 to 40 mm are expected and rainfall warnings have been issued.
Snowfall amounts will be in the 5 to 10 cm range across most of the Island, with the majority of these amounts expected to fall quite rapidly. The Green Bay - White Bay area will see closer to 15 cm and, as a result, a snowfall warning has been issued.
Another more intense winter storm is expected to follow later on Monday through Monday night. This system will bring, once again, a wide mix of wintry weather with potentially significant amounts of snow, rain, and wind to all of Newfoundland.

Another intense winter storm is expected to impact the Island Monday through Monday night. Current model guidance suggests that this system will bring significant amounts of snow to parts of northern Newfoundland. The remainder of the Island will once again transition from snow, through ice pellets and freezing rain to rain. The snow will begin near noon on Monday over southern Newfoundland and spread northward throughout the afternoon and evening. Strong southeasterly winds are also expected to spread across the region Monday evening and give way to potentially warning level southwesterlies Monday night.
More details on this next storm will be provided as they become available.

There were some clouds at the pool today.
Fortunately, the pool is heated and I was
able to tough it out.
I know.
I'm almost superhuman!
