I have not had one - but my best friend had to have one at age 46, but she was able to keep her ovaries so she wouldn't zoom right into menopause. However, I don't know if she had a partial, total, or radical hysterectomy...
I wish you luck - get all the information you can, not just from med. sites, but searching out some blogs might be helpful too.

I am 33 yrs old and am lucky enough to keep my ovaries so I wont go into menopause too much earlier then the average woman. My mom had a full radical hysterectomy so totally different then me.

You are very young and brave and am sure it's for the best. When my mom came to Canada, she was pregnant with her 3rd and last child, my youngest sister and she found out she had the start of ovarian cancer, and she had a hysterectomy at age 25. I think it definitely influenced her life and her emotions since then. She didnt know any English and basically had a procedure which was a huge shock to her system and back then there was no Internet or available information. Definitely look up Blogs and different forms of healing and managing this as it will affect you the rest of your life, emotionally...
hugs to you, and good luck

Thanks for the well wishes I can't imagine anything worse than what I have gone through the last 6 months! I want my life back and am hoping after the hysterectomy it will be. I have tried other forums but anything I write just seems to get lost in cyberspace and i feel quite alone with this.

I do not have any experience...but I am sorry to hear. Being able to keep your ovaries should help you overall and with the transition. I just googled adenomyosis. It can be difficult to not know the cause. However, I am happy to know that you have children.

I had the same as you, so much pain for many years. I had a Hysterectomy in 1991, they took everything except for one ovary, best day of my life! No more pain, no more periods, it was truly liberating for me.

Hi! I am just so happy for you that you got scheduled so soon - that's wonderful!
And now you made me google so I know the difference between what you have and endometriosis. There's always something more to learn about womens' health!
I hope you have a great gynecologist, and wish you all the best.

She is one of the best! When I was working at City Hospital all the nurses who worked on gyne said she was the best! I have total faith in her. Seems like I have been waiting forever!
