Maybe LOLCAT is still on to help me here...sorry I am totally picking your medical mind.
My boys are sick. The eldest is 3 and he is vomitting or diarrea for all of yesterday and started throwing up today. I am giving him water, pedialyte and jello juice (the gelatin is supposed to hold his stomach) and he is still throwing up for the most part. He just drank some water slowly and so far nothing so good sign no?
I gave him banana to eat, threw up afterward, he is complaining he is hungry but anything he eats comes back up. Even plain bread. I know the bug is going around and most likely no one can give him anything, but should I really be worried?
He won't take Pepto Bismol even though I am begging him to take it.

Amy.. I'm so sorry your kids are sick. Mine are just getting over the flu as well, only we got the sore throat/fever/cannot breathe/cough kind.
The best thing to stick by when they are vomiting/diarrhea are things like Bananas, plain rice, dry toast, applesauce, and saltine type crackers. Most other things are going to upset his stomach more.
You can give him water, but most likely he will just vomit it back up pretty quickly. When you add plain liquid to an empty stomach, it doesn't stay down very long.
I would avoid the pepto bismol for now. Most likely the taste and smell will make him vomit it back up if he is already nauseated, and it really won't do much for his nausea. This nausea is caused by the virus... pepto is mainly targeted to nausea caused by overindulgence in food or heartburn/acid related issues.
You might want to try some flat ginger ale, if you can get him to drink it.
Just get a bottle of it, leave it out at room temperature with the cap off to make it flat. Room temp. liquids are easier on the stomach as well. The ginger ale can really help, and the flatter it is the better. If you have some candied ginger around the house that can help a lot too... Even some of those inexpensive ginger cookies.
I'm sure he's going to keep saying he's hungry, just stick to those bland/mild foods I mentioned. You can try the pedialyte, or if he won't drink that, give him one of the really really mild flavors of gatorade. It is almost the same, and most kids tolerate the taste of gatorade better than the pedialyte. That stuff tastes so gross! LOL
I'm so sorry they aren't well. If the diarrhea and vomiting lasts more than 3 days, or if the boys start to look dehydrated or act extremely lethargic, I'd take them to the emergency.. At their ages they can get pretty dehydrated very quickly.

Bananas he cannot keep down and yesterday toast he threw up. Right now he just ate plain rice krispies with no milk so we will see. I have been giving him water and it is staying in his system *fingers crossed* If he doesnt throw up in the next hour or so I will try toast again and then some gatorade cuz we do not have any ginger ale in the house and I am not packing them up to get some from the store. Otherwise he is active and playing with his brother for a bit and then he lies down
