I actually read an article about a study, saying that citizens with monarchies are more interested in their country. I think it was kind of referred to as a common interest that people can gossip about? I don't really care either way, I like the history, but since the 20th Century it's less interesting. I mean, The Tudors anyone? Good stuff.

I got up at 4:00 am to see Diana and Charles married - My mum and um....well,.....maybe me too- like to follow these things -

William was a stunning looking little boy and young man but adulthood has toned down his good looks in my opinion.

At least these two have known each other long enough to know whether they actually "love" each other.

I think that's very true what you say about their love for one another.

I think it's too bad that, because of our federal election, Prime Minister Harper and his wife won't be attending, the Governor General and his wife will be there in his stead.
There isn't a hard and fast protocol rule about this since a royal wedding is an exception, but was up to the discretion of Mr. Harper.

The wedding won't be a double-ring ceremony since William doesn't want a wedding band because he doesn't like to wear any jewellery.
Royals usually wear a signet ring - but Prince Charles wears a wedding band under his signet ring.
For her wedding band, Kate will have a Welsh gold band bequeathed by the queen as a family heirloom.

I might be in the minority here but I really think that he and his wife SHOULD attend the wedding so long as he returns for May 2. At the very least his wife should be attending on his behalf.

Just my thoughts however.

I agree, I think it is just common manners to attend the Royal Wedding, for gods sake you were one of the few heads of states that was invited!

I'm not sure what time the wedding is? I'm a night owl but I still have my limits, if it's at a do-able time of the night then I will try to follow the wedding live. I think Kate is gorgeous and I'm so excited to see her dress!

I'm sure there will be a few hours' coverage on the networks before the actual ceremony time, depending on the network.
I'm up anyways, and I can't wait!
One of the networks (probably CBC though I'm not sure) will be rerunning it that evening; everyone will obviously have highlights.

I saw this last night - it's a T-Mobile commercial, but it's amazing how much the people resemble the royals, love the location, etc.
They copied the 'JK wedding entrance dance' video...
