    • Receiving a letter from a friend I haven't heard from in years.
    • Being excited about all the varieties of sunflower seeds I just splurged on. Am going to try to grow giant ones this summer!
    • Having a cozy little house - it's modest and needs work, but it's ours.
    • Having some new books just waiting to be read.
    • Knowing my family is safe and that Dad's health is finally starting to improve.

    Today, I'm thankful for sending the first of three analysis chapters for my thesis to my advisor. Now just to finish off the other two!

    Two little things also made me smile today:
    - finding a big, big box of spinach marked down from $5 to $1 at food basics when I had wandered in with a hankering for something green - (it'll be delicious wilted and tossed with caramelized onions and some balsamic vinegar!)
    - it is cold and windy outside, but I don't have to do anything but sit inside with a cup of tea

    My son also has scoliosis and we are going for our yearly check up and x-ray in 2 months. I know the feeling of being thankful everytime those results come back positive.
