Ontario to ban cellphones from classrooms

Reports out this morning suggest Ontario is set to announce cellphones will be banned in classrooms, starting in the next school year. Some schools already have similar policies but the province will issue a directive to all public schools for the 2019-20 school year. It would prohibit cellphone use during instructional time. Enforcement of the ban would be up to individual boards and schools. The Progressive Conservatives had proposed such a ban in their platform during last year's election campaign. Government sources that were not authorized to speak publicly ahead of the announcement say exceptions would be made for when teachers want to use cellphones as part of their lesson, for medical reasons and students with special needs.

UFC star Conor McGregor arrested after police say he smashed fan's phone

UFC star Conor McGregor has found himself in trouble with the law again. McGregor is being charged with strong-armed robbery, a second-degree felony and criminal mischief after an incident in south Florida. The charges stem from an event that happened in the early morning hours Monday outside a famous Miami Beach hotel, Fontainebleau. Reports suggest McGregor snatched the phone away from someone trying to snap his picture before stomping on it several times. He was arrested at his home a short time later and has agreed to fully cooperate with police.
