@SnowFlakey you are right about that, no where to be found these days. My Mom bought those cherry pound cake loaves regularly not just at Christmas time. Maybe that will be my next baking project!

I found this recipe in one of the little booklets in a grocery store several years ago. I think it was probably around Christmas time. And ive been making this cake ever since. It is a very very nice cake to serve. I used a mixture of red and green maraschino cherries once, but i didnt think it looked so good, so now its just red cherries.
CHERRY POUND CAKE (excellent)
1 1/4 cups butter, softened
2 3/4 cups granulated sugar
5 eggs
1 tsp almond extrace
3 cups all purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/4 tsp salt
1 cup Carnation evaporated milk
2 cups quartered maraschino cherries, well drained
Sifted icing sugar to garnish (optional)
Beat butter, sugar, eggs and extract in large bowl on low speed of mixer until blended, then on high speed for 5 minutes until light and fluffy.
Combine flour, baking powder and salt. Add dry ingredients alternately with evaporated milk to creamed mixture, mixing lightly after each addition. Fold in cherries. Turn batter into greased bundt or tube pan (12 cups). Bake at 350F for 55 minutes. Cover loosely with foil, shiney side out; continue baking for 15-20 minutes more, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let stand to cool in pan for 5 minutes; invert cake onto rack and let cool completely. Dust with icing sugar if desired.

Here is my Moms Tortiere recipe.
MOMS TORTIERE
3 lbs meat (1 lb pork, 1 lb veal, 1 lb beef) (doesnt have to be exact measure, could be a bit more)
2 big onions, chopped
2-3 cloves garlic, chopped
Fry onions and garlic together in on frying pan. Fry the meat in a separate flying pan. Drain off fat and save for later. Place meat in large mixing bowl and let cool.
Boil 6-7 medium potatoes and mash very well, no lumps. Add onions and potatoes to meat. Salt and pepper to taste. Add 2 1/2 tsps (or more) parsley, 1/4 tsp cinnamon and 1/8 of ground cloves (or to taste). Mix well. Add 1/4 cup fat from the reserved fried meat.
Make pie dough ( i use the already prepared pie dough, Francois Hebert, and fill pie dough plates with meat mixture. Bake at 350 F for 30 minutes (more or less depending on your stove) Makes about 3 large pies.

I have printed off the cherry pound cake recipe ....ty!! @SnowFlakey
Today was gloriously productive, I may crash later on but my early start gave me a leg up in the kitchen.
I finally removed the Pom seeds from 2 of the red balls that I scored at just .88 each a few weeks back and was sure they had dried out inside and died.
Was I ever wrong!
Beautiful , juicy and plump so I searched recipes.
This one turns out is a winner! I did not have pistachio nuts but I did have plenty of cashews.
Both DH and DS were the taste testers...they give it a 10/10.

We were on the same wave length today @coupon girl ! I made another loaf today as well, around 11:00 a.m. but I had to have the blueberries in it. Made it for our DD who is visiting us for 2 precious days!

Here is my Baked Apple recipe: Take as many apples as you want ( i usually do 4 apples at a time because its only me who eats them). Cut off the top a bit so some apple is exposed. Use an apple corer to core the apple (if you dont have one, use a knife to get the center out but be careful). Use a mixture of brown sugar and cinnamon (you wont need much for 4 apples) and sprinkle this mixture inside the apple and around the top a bit. Bake at 375F for approximately 45 minutes. The whole house smells delicious also.
