Last night I baked those really yummy oatmeal fruit and nut bars. This time I used the peanuts in place of the pecans and all whole wheat flour, they turned out dry in my opinion. Good to try things, but they didn't turn out as nice considering that I found the other batches absolutely addictive. I'm not a big peanut fan and personally prefer peanut butter. Oh well, I know it will get eaten.

Tomorrow is my brother's birthday so I decided to make a cheesecake rather than purchase a cake.

So right now I have LorAnn Orange Bakery Emulsion coming from Amazon and I caved and ordered the Princess Cake and Cookie Bakery Emulsion (nut, vanilla, lemon) and Buttery Sweet Dough Bakery Emulsion (butter, vanilla, lemon) and some citric acid powder from Golda's
The plan is to use the base recipe from the clementine cake, which is sponge, and try the other flavours on it. Citric acid powder allows you to add a lemon-flavoured tart punch without getting things all leaky from a bunch of lemon juice. However, the recipes I have are baking-powder based and I think I will have to switch out some for baking soda if I use the acid?
Yes there will be some hard-core experimenting going on.Last edited by lecale; Thu, Feb 18th, 2016 at 03:30 PM.

Apple Pie. We i didnt exactly make it right now, but i guess i did bake it now. Actually i made the apple pie back in November and then froze it. The other day i took it out of the freezer and baked it. turned out ok, but i prefer fresh as soon as i make it baked. We had it with Chapman`s Gelatto Vanilla Bean. That stuff is addictive!

I made Croissants last night. We bought a box of frozen ready to bake croissants at Costco a couple of weeks ago. I love having freshly baked croissants.

I try to keep keep home-made baked goods, pancakes etc. healthy but I just looove the combination of cranberries and chocolate.

While going through some papers today, I found that chocolate and hazelnut swirl bread recipe from Holiday 2015 issue of Food & Drink. Will have to give that a go soon.
Made Style at Home's banana bread brownies without frosting and baked the batter in a tube pan. The resulting slices looked baked on top but the chopped dark chocolate seemed to make the centres like lava cakes (gooey). Anyway, I got the thrill of eating a banana and dark chocolate combination without have to make two separate batters like the quick bread recipe from Food Network would require.
To find the brownies recipe takes some doing-not through the Recipes subtab & search. Click on Food & Entertaining>then on the marshmallow sweet potato loaves recipe. The left menu bar will show other recipes by Tanya Eng>banana bread brownies.

My local Food Basics has a discontinued Irresistibles Dark Chocolate 100 g bar that was $1.25 so I bought that. Just a frugal tip if you don't want to buy a 70% dark chocolate name brand bar (not sure what % the dark chocolate was).Last edited by Ciel; Fri, Mar 4th, 2016 at 03:47 PM.
