Fooled you. It's not an original idea of mine. I have seen the pictures of lottery winners on the OLG website and a few have baseball hats and sunglasses.

    well.
always told hubby if we win it big
I'd 'hire' Mike Holmes and his crew to build our dream home.
Then once it was built we'd take all of us and our families on a vacation right after we had a huge party at the new house. Catered of course. then cleaned while on vacation. maybe a cruise after.

then lots of other plans to go with it. some big some small.
funny hubby bought everyone a lotto ticket for xmas. hm wonder. this is when you find out who your true family is.

Really? That's awesome! Do you have to claim it as income the following year? Or is really tax free?

It still has to be claimed though right? It's not taxable but I remember there being a line about it.

First thing I would do is go to the airport & hop on he first plane out.
Then continue doing that until I saw the world or got sick of traveling.

Hm, the first thing I would do is stick it in the bank and get my passport renewed.
I would't call anyone except my parents...and this would be after all of it's in the bank. lol Then unplug my house phone and turn my phone off to incoming calls.

I'd pay off all my relatives bills and debts and that would be that. Maybe give out 1M for each family in my family that I've been in contact with. If I haven't seen or spoken with you in over a year, you better bugger off! lol

Charity and donating is a must.
25% of my winnings would be to spend at my leisure, giving away, buying things, adopting animals, shopping, a house, a farm, travel etc etc.

The rest would be locked up to maintain my new lifestyle through out my life, and gaining interest.

LOL I would! I don't think money could fix the thrill of getting something on sale or free!
I think that much money would drive me crazy to have...I would be torn between spending it and saving it because I have always been a huge saver and don't like parting with money LOL!

    hmm I would:

    • buy a condo. Not sure how much I would put towards one but I could at least spend enough to get a nice place in a nice area of Toronto without having to worry about the expenses that go with a better area and building. It would have to be a two bedroom because my sister apparently would still want to be my roommate LOL!

    • Go to school full time. I wouldn't have to worry about trying to work and pay for classes so I could just enroll and get better marks by being in class instead of suffering through online courses like I am now. Plus I would be able to afford to get my masters instead of stopping at my diploma next year.

    • put enough money away to pay for the expenses/bills for said condo plus extra for anything else that might come up since I have never owned a place before.

    • put money away in a separate bank account (in my name) for my sister so that she can pay off her school loans in full after graduating and have enough to live off of when she was finished school. That way with the economy she wouldn't have to worry about finding work right away or could go for higher education if she wanted to stay in school.

    • I would probably slip my sister an allowance so she doesn't have to live like she is poor through school LOL! I wouldn't give her any huge amounts of money though because she would probably have roommates trying to bum money from her all the time but I would give her money once a month so she could buy groceries or clothes or anything she needs.

    • My parents would get a huge chunk of money because they need it and they have put up with me for this long so I guess they deserve a lot of money LOL!!! I don't think they would do much with it but at least they would have it in case they needed it. Oh and my dad needs a new truck since his is from 1984...

    • Get my passport and go on as many trips as I could because I have never been out of Canada before and would love to travel the world!! Plus money would be no object so I would just hire a travel agent and book the best of the best to see the world

    Sorry off topic
I always wonder about that...Is it possible to remain anonymous?
I think I would always be paranoid that someone was out to get me for my money or something.
I'm also not sure how I would ever be able to date if I won a large amount of money especially with your face and name out there I would always feel like they wanted me for my money and not love.

My dad doesn't know how to Christmas shop so we always get lottery tickets and scratch tickets from him every year! When we were smaller he would buy us scratch tickets for our stockings and if we won anything on them he would take them to the store and then give us the money since we were underage...This year we all got lotto tickets with a cash for life scratch ticket and no one won a thing...ok not true my sister won $2 on her lotto ticket we had no idea what to do with such a huge win LOL!

No idea what i'd do - though i've told dh he can't quit his job until he has the cheque in his hand.
Would love the opportunity to build/design our own home - nothing super big or anything , just with things like a pantry, a half decent kitchen, and another full bathroom would be great
Am sure we'd give some money away but in all honesty i haven't really figured it all out cos i'm not really expecting to win

My priority would be to live off-grid and have my dream green home built on some land...about 100 acres so that my dogs have plenty of room to run . Around here, I don't figure it would cost me more than 1M. The balance of winnings would all be invested, every last penny. I'd let the principal build but would use a good 50% of the interest after taxes on special projects. A state of the art animal shelter/training facility/low income vet clinic would be one of my first projects.

My life would change for sure. I'd be able to afford to live simple .

I would ask everyone I knew what they would do if they won $50 million and if I wasn't in the top running after charity, family and life long good friends then that person would be off my list of potential recipients.
