    We need to amend that.

For sake of argument, lets say he committed a crime in California. They do have the death penalty but it doesn't mean that it would be sought. Further to that, I'd rather a scumbag like Magnotta rot in a prison cell for a REAL life sentence rather than our pathetic 25 year term they call a Life Sentence. That's just me though.

I can't handle this either and any other sad stories involving the lost of children.
    Heartbreaking.

How many 1st degree murderers actually get out in 25 years though? The 25 years thing just means that there's no possibility of parole for 25 years, not that they are automatically let out of jail.

I guess we'll have to keep him then. Wasn't there a story in the news lately though about a Canadian trying to get out of a death sentence in the US?

punishments should match the crime. if this case happened in china before 1900, the murderer would have been given "lingchi"

lin made some bad choices: www.realjock.com/westpsp (westpsp is the handle he used on his microblogging site www.weibo.com/westpsp)

doesn't he know the dangers of online hookups?

he also registered a website early this year: www.homobj.com (what did he intend to do with it?)

maybe he was being adventurous and didn't give it much thought until it was too late.

Yeah, that must be the guy since he's the only Canadian on death row. I didn't pay a whole lot of attention to the case. I didn't know there were so many rules about extradition either. But I guess it makes sense. For the most part I'm fine with Canada having life sentences instead of putting people to death (although I do think more of them should be handed out). But I wouldn't object to death sentences for cases like this one either.

Just heard on the news that he's been linked to a murder in Hollywood from January. Police have confirmed he was in LA at the time. Body parts are still missing from that murder as well.

Maybe a link to one of the schools -

"Honestly, besides looking for attention, besides looking for publicity, I don't see any link between (remains sent to Vancouver schools) and the Liberals and the Conservatives," said Montreal police commander Ian Lafreniere.

Asked if Magnotta could have chosen to mail a package to St. George's School because it has been linked to Trudeau in media reports, Lafreniere said "absolutely."
    ...

St. George's School, on Vancouver's west side, is billed as one of Canada's premiere boarding schools for boys, with students from 18 countries enrolled.

In March, Christopher Charles Ingvaldson — a 42-year-old former teacher at St. George's School — pleaded guilty to child-ography-related charges in connection to an international Facebook child- ring.

It was widely reported in 2010 that Ingvaldson was a close friend of Justin Trudeau, the Quebec MP and son of former prime minister Pierre Trudeau. Justin Trudeau had taught with Ingvaldson at West Point Grey Academy more than 10 years ago.
(note - I corrected the spelling of Lafreniere's name in the first section, drove me nuts that they misspelled it twice.)
