OK, I can appreciate the fact that you don't think you acted in the wrong in your situation. But, what I gathered from your original post (where you explained what happened) was that you don't like the judgements and assumptions people make about you as a mother (that you're inexperienced and don't know what you're doing), nor do you like it when these judgemental people talk down to you as a result of their assumptions.

If someone thinks I'm out of line they definitely should report it to a mod.. I politely shared what I do when I encounter the same problem everywhere I go.. this method is nothing new, its older than all of us.. With regards to other posts, its up to these people to address that with me, through a mod or to block me. For a while one of the long term users was attacking me.. I reported her to the mods and blocked her.. that way we're both happier..

I have refrained from posting to this thread until now. The fact that people sometimes get upset at the opinions other others is a frequent part of life in general, and life on SC in particular. I am quite sure that there are at least as many people who are unimpressed by the OP as there may be people unimpressed with MillieH's opinion. If the rant section is a place where people are basically told to "shut up and go away" if they disagree (and disagree respectfully), then I believe it is time for this section to be shut down.

No, cursing is not necessary, it was an emotional, knee jerk reaction to a horrible comment describing krystas' child. It was spewed at that " woman " with the same venom that she hurled her retar*ed idi*t comment. To sit here calmly and type " is cursing necessary" is kind of funny because you are so far removed from what was happening in that crucial moment of " flight or fight" when krysta chose FIGHT!
Her son did not hear her say those profane words anyway, she said somewhere in here that he was out of earshot or distracted, maybe crying I forget now.
We all react differently to situations anyway, but I think most of us mother's react like bears when someone is attacking our kids. I guess you must be a very polite non swearing bear. Wish I could say the same.Last edited by walkonby; Wed, Jun 27th, 2012 at 05:30 AM.

Krysta~
I owe you a big apology for two reasons. First because this is the RANT section and I rained on your rant. I always feel sad when people rain on posters in the brag section and here I am doing something similar in a different section. I think rules of the rant section should be if you can't be supportive of the person ranting in a way that makes them feel better.. just click the x.. I certainly will do one or the other in future.
It now realise you just wanted to express your frustration, you didn't want a solution, if you wanted help you would have asked for it. It doesn't matter what my intent was, my response made you feel as though I was judging you and I'm really sorry for that. I wanted to be helpful and I actually made your day worse..
I was so confused that my remarks were seen as rude and mean that I even asked Sally to review my posts to see if I was out of line. Thankfully,
Walkonby was kind enough to respond to me in a private message and explain how she saw your post. I am very grateful for her insight.
My sincere apologies for making you feel even worse.

^Millie, you did your best. Some of us understood what your were saying and that you were being supportive, not a "hater." Your comments were reasonable and appropriate and worthy of cool-headed consideration.
The problem may have been that the rant started out as one thing -- absolutely everywhere I go, people treat me like a child who needs help parenting her own children, and today it made me so mad I swore at someone in a store line-up -- and then several posts later it turned into something else -- a horrible woman viciously insulted my whining two-year-old in Value Village so I violently swore at her, and she's lucky that's all I did -- and the original rant (to which you were responding) seemed to have been forgotten.

I'm pretty sure i said somewhere that the two things got mashed together...
thank you millie by the way.its hard to apologize, especially in a public forum. i never thought that your comments were meant to be malicious, simply that you weren't there, it wasn't your child, and I'm pretty sure you thought one thing when i said another.
the original post was more of a generality of being discriminated against because of how young i look. (actually more so when i have my nearly eight year old with me- though that wasn't stated) and got followed up by my frustration about an entirely different thing with a lady who viciously attacked my child verbally.
sorry for the confusion. but at the very least, this series of posts has allowed me to vent my frustration in a healthy manner and I've moved on. the woman in the store obviously has something to work on personally and i no longer want to dwell on it.
thanks everyone.Last edited by krysta lynne; Wed, Jun 27th, 2012 at 12:21 PM.

I am just commenting generally not on your situation. Kids are quite frankly going to scream, it's what they do. Or at least from my observation what they like to do. If a kid is screaming in the store, I just go to a different aisle, or try to get out of there as quick as possible. I am glad that you weren't screaming back at the child, that is what bothers me way more than the screaming child.
The shoppers maturity level is really showing in calling a child something awful. Children scream, it's what they do, why I tend to try to avoid times in the store when there will be a lot of them such as shop for groceries in the evenings/late night. It's better for my peace and mind. Just makes me more aware that my choice not to have a child until I can handle the screaming a better choice for me.Try out the maven box by julep And code FREEFB, and get your box for one cent:

kids go through tantrums , melt downs, it's not always rosey , we should accept and tolerate and be patient ! what kills me is the people who pretend they love kids and how cute and adorable they r and yet they r the exact people who make negative comments or give the death looks to the upset child! how double standard

I'm beginning to think many people just can't tell ages, especially exact. Many people would know looking at me I'm 'young', but they probably couldn't guess I'm 25. I still get ID'd buying lotto tickets! Some places like the LCBO and smokeshops just do it automatically for anyone who looks 'young' for the camera's sake (I was told to do that when I worked in a smokeshop, even if I knew the person).
However, I didn't get ID'd at the LCBO last night. Babysteps!
So as per your situation, they see you, lump you into 'young', probably underestimate and BAM insensitive comment. We used to get nasty looks from people when my friends daughter was a baby, or they just assumed we were babysitting. Also consider, many women these days put off having children till later, so it may just be a part of some 'cultural shift', even though 30 years ago young mothers were the norm. Also, extended adolescent (that's me!).
