So I got a crackle nail polish, I was super excited to try it, looked up on how to apply it, and I did just as i was supposed to: base coat, background, crackle polish, and than top coat. And the piece of crap just wont crackle! And it chips off within a couple hours.
has anyone else had any experience with the born pretty store? Is this common with their nail polsih? or was mine a bad bottle? This thread is currently associated with: N/Ajoin my superpoints network and get gifts card for amazon , or paypal, or rewards.

I've never heard of this store so I had to google. What polish brand was it? I have a few crackles (China Glaze ) and I am not a fan..looks like I spilled acetone on my nails and didn't bother cleaning them up lol

I don't know anything about the store...but I tried one of those cracked nailpolishes once and it totally didn't work. It just smear around, chipped off and looked like crap.

I have a few crackles and the trick is to try and do a thin coat and never go over the same spot twice or it won't crack properly. I have the Sally Hansen black one and a china glaze silver metallic and both work fine once you get the hang of it.

I think that crackle finish fad has passed on...I see it for clearance quite a lot (at Winners and Chatters). There is a user who posts under the "born pretty store" name in the SC Beauty forum. To me, she's a glorified spammer. I posted in her nail of the day once and then got a spam message via PM...I was not amused.
OP, perhaps follow rose's application tips and see whether that helps. You could also try a different brand.

I've ordered from born pretty before, never the polish though. I find the polish is expensive for a no name polish. I've ordered nail art things like beads etc from them with no issues.

ugh I hate crackle nail polish. All brands! Ive been using the sally hansen salon effects nail strips. I get compliments every single day on my awesome nails! and they last weeks!! dont chip or fade or anything...and they are easily removed with nail polish remover. I recommend!!

I don't have the patience to do the strips LOL! I paint my nails a lot and like doing them. I just miss the other 3/4 of my nail polish stash that I didn't move with me At least it gives me a chance to use some up and have less clutter if I move again next year.

I got the OPI grey crackle and it works fine, like someone said above you have to apply a thin coat and do not go over the same area twice, leave it, it will crack on its own in a few minutes.
For applying nailpolish, I use this sequence and my nails can last a long time without being chipped, and I do A LOT of housework:
Sally Hansen No More Stains
Base Coat
Second application of base coat
Crackle
Sally Hansen Clear Top Coat (help to prevent chipping)Add me on twitter and I'll add you back! Just mention you are from SC!

Yes as rose said apply a thin coat and don't go over the same place twice as it wouldn't crackle.I used to do furniture with crackle many years ago so learned from experience
