You can make an application for the Breakfast for Learning (I think that's what it's called) through your school. I did when I was at the high school and started a breakfast program for our kids, and I got the grant. It's a pretty easy application, it also will give you more money each week. I also spoke with our local bakery, a few of the grocery stores, and a few local merchants (this was in a smaller town outside Calgary) and I was amazed how much they donated on a weekly (or daily basis) Free bagels, bread, buns, fruits and veggies and so on. If you do that, and in conjunction with the money you already have, and the money you will/should receive from the grant, you will find you have all you can use/need. I commend you for your efforts for the kids. It's extremely important they start the school day right. I had kids that never had supper the night before and I knew this would probably be the only decent meal they would get all day. (I would send them home with food on Fridays for the weekend)

Thanks Nat. I was actually quite surprised myself. I learned something about myself through this entire thing. That is that I care for my friends way more than I ever knew (that really didn't come out right, but I think you know what I mean). I was just so bowled over by the whole sudden death of my friend that is sent me for a huge tailspin. I'm getting there though. I didn't want to talk about it, and I think that was my big issue. I just bottled so much up inside, but with the help of a great therapist/Dr. I'm getting through it and getting back to all the things I LOVE to do. How are things around your place. I hope your doing ok.

Doing relatively okay, holly - we are moving within the city by month's end and it's SO much working going through 18+ years of 'stuff' - and I have so many physical limitations which makes it very difficult.
My mind has a plan and wants to do so much, but the body cannot do it all...

The hardest part is going to be to let go of stuff. To other people it's just stuff, but to us it's years of memories and meanings. I don't envy you with the task ahead of you. Just make sure you look after YOU, that's the most important thing.

Well peeps, I could sit on here all day (and some days I just might), but I've got to get a move on and try and get some things done. So many things neglected lately..... I wish you all a wonderful day and I'm going to try and come back on later today, but tomorrow for sure. Have an amazing everyone!

Holly! Hello, My Friend!
i'm so sorry to hear of your best friend's passing, Hon, I can honestly say I know what you're going thru, having lost my best friend in August. Not two days ever went by that we didn't chat, giggle, shop, tackle a new craft...I still have that second in time that I think, "I'd better give her a call....." Then remember that I can't ever do that again. We were inseparable...and said we'd be friends even when we needed name tags to remember each other's names. I only bring this up so that you know you can pm or email me anytime and I'll understand what you're going through.
Next month I'll be performing her memorial service for her family in Toronto, since she didn't want a funeral. Perhaps I'll finally be able to say good-bye....not to forget, but to express my feelings for her and just be able to get out everything I've been holding in.
I'm here for you, Holly...and I truly share your pain.
And Holly....we're all blessed to have you back...

I've actually had to get some counseling, I just couldn't seem to snap out of it. I guess because it was so very unexpected. Anyways, things seem to be starting to move in the right direction and I'm slowly getting back to doing the things I love best, including coming here to visit every day
