Happy Caturday, all!
Son just popped in, he did a special air conditioning course at Polytechnic today to get certified, and got a great mark.
He was also uber-happy because he got a rather big raise at work, and will be getting another one next pay period. Yay for him!
Good timing, because his Mustang is toast, and he's just looking for another vehicle - probably a truck. He has an old Caddy, but that's just for fun - obviously the gas consumption is gross - but he loves that old boat.
Not doing much except piddling around the house. Nice to see the sun shining, and it should warm up more over the next few days.
Enjoy the day!

Oh, gosh, @22hicks..you should have heard him in the jewellry store yesterday when I picked up a ring that they repaired! The gal complimented me on my purse and he said, "Yup. I have exceptionally good taste."...she giggled...then I said, "Oh! Look! More diamonds for me!"...and before I finished he just said, "No. You have enough."...and she and I looked at each other and laughed and I said, "They're never enough!"...anyway, he enjoys teasing and having fun like that...he's so much fun to be with...good thing, too, he's been hanging around for 50 years!
Enjoy your relaxing evening; hope you had a fun lunch with your friends!
@Natalka, congratulations to Milan! It's great to see our kids find their "niche" and not only enjoy the work, but excel in it, too!!
Have a lovely evening, Ladies!

Thx, ladies - in his trade, guys don't tend to stay at the same shop through their apprenticeship, so he's very lucky to be where he is, and he likes it there for the most part. It's a small shop, and he gets to do almost everything - compared to other apprentices he met when he went to school, lots of them hadn't had exposure to so many things. That's just good generally for his knowledge, but also because he's the type to like serious challenges.

The more one knows, the more valuable one becomes. I remember when our DD started as a teller at her bank...she was full-time, but took every call to come in, learned their computer system so that they had to ask her how to do things, etc, etc...knowledge really IS POWER!!!
I see where she is now and it just boggles my mind!
Your son, if he moves to another company, will be a treasured employee who can be called in to more than any other apprentice would be capable of doing. Good for HIM!!
Yes. A toast is in order:

Don't tell @padyofurniture , but I'm having wine.
I'm celebrating the quilt completion...honestly, I was nervous the whole way! It's one thing to make something for us, but quite another to make it for someone else. Good grief, the stress is gone!!!

Hello folks!
Congratulations to Milan, Nat!
Congratulations to you, Lynn, on finishing that quilt! Pictures? Please!
Hicks, I am glad to see you getting out more!
Cabmonk, sorry I missed your birthday! Happy Day! Happy year!
Dan, how's every little thing in your life going?
I got some time to do a little "hardly gardening", yesterday but our front looks better. I also found a new front wreath at 80% off at Michael's. It needs a little glue gun repair but it's orange and blue- DH's favourite team's colours.
It's our anniversary next weekend and I have been trying to think of a special gift for him. It's also his birthday the week after.
One of his favourite songs is "Imagine" by John Lennon. Last year we needed a new licence plate and I was thinking of getting him a so-called "vanity" plate but Mr. Efficiency bought a regular one before I could get my act together. So I checked it out again. But it's $310 for one and it takes 4-6 MONTHS to get it.
The "traditional" 12th anniversary gift is silk/linen. The modern gift is pearls. We DO need new bed linen, but hardly and appropriate gift.
I am usually good at coming up with good presents but I am drawing a blank this time.
Well, the laundry calls. We have to sleep on the newly washed but uninspiring sheets tonight.
Chat later!

I'm just SO happy - Ukraine won the Eurovision song contest! YAY!
Especially happy since the singer is a Crimean Tartar - you remember Crimea, that part of Ukraine that Putin took two years ago?
Well, we still think of it as Ukraine. Her song is called 1944 - about the deportation of Crimean Tartars by Stalin; she has some family history.
I raise my cup of ice water, cheers!

Good morning all.
@avoncallingu - good luck finding that special gift.
Boy, it's downright cold out there, so dress warmly if you're going out.
I hope you enjoy your day.

Good morning all! Yup, it is cold...when I got up this morning was surprised to see lots
of white fluttering in the air. At first I thought it was petals from the cherry tree blossoms,
but no, it was snow flakes!

Wow, we are so opposite in this country - when we had cold, you guys had warm, and now it's the opposite.
It's going to go past 20 today, but it's going to be smoky out.
Just got a message from my oldest sister that my BIL got taken into the heart institute in Edmonton - and no further info, gah! He has a not good history of heart troubles, so I'm worried.
