Newfieschreech- when you told us your story it reminded me of two things- "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles." - That movie always makes me laugh - nothing funny about being stranded in an airport, though.

The other was about all those planes that got stranded in Gander on 911.

Glad you got home and still had the energy to help with the Santa celebration.

Well, just before I was to leave on my 3 hour respite time to get some grocery shopping done, DH had an episode of vertigo that resulted in some nasty side effects. He almost fell near our sink. Luckily I could get him back to bed safely.

I cancelled the PSW and called the nurse who was not slated to come today. She, in turn, called the Dr. on call from the palliative care team. They are concerned about the sudden vertigo and will check him out again tomorrow. Luckily we had anti-nausea meds on hand and this nurse happened to have been the one who was on duty the night when he had to go to the hospital in Nov.
Hicks- what' s keeping you awake? Hopefully you can get some sleep tonight.
Walks, you should have asked that young man if he was collecting his "volunteer hours" for high school, or paid him in cookies.
I have a cute little wooden Santa decoration which reads, "Will work for milk and cookies."
Well, laundry is done, beds are changed, dishes are put away and a new load in the dishwasher.
I ordered "Bridgette Jones' Baby" to watch when DH was taking a rest but only got into it about 20 minutes before the phone rang. But it's available for 24 hours. It started out not that good with "McDreamy" from Grey's Anatomy with a VERY PHONY accent. Fluff stuff to watch .
Now Tampa Bay is playing Edmonton in the second inning and I think I will hit the sack. I didn't get to sleep until after3 last night.

Hi avoncallingu.. so funny .. every time I get stranded at airport .. first thing comes in my mind is 911 when all planes got routed to Gander , Newfoundland.. remember that so clearly... our town got call to provide help for those stranded people.. help with preparing food , collecting clothing and bedding etc .. day I'm sure No one will every forget ... I do a lot of volunteering.. so glad get home to help out with parade and kids Christmas party . It's pleasure watch kids .. getting all excited ..when santa drops by .. then fire department had pizza party lunch for kids .. all in all it was awesome

Aw, that's such a disappointment for us Moms, isn't it? The highlight of our days is when we chat with or visit with our kids. I hope Milan feels better soon.

St. Nicholas Day on the Julian calendar.

Growing up, we had a concert every year in the tiny church basement - we learned verses in Ukrainian to say, did dances, songs - then St. Nicholas would come to visit with a treat bag for the kids (mandarin orange, some nuts and candies).
Loved doing it every year - and was SO pleased that one of the last years I participated I FINALLY got to be an angel! (That was a huge deal!)

Wow, it's been so busy, and it's not going to get any less busy for the next week or so.
I hope every1 is feeling a little better than they were.

Oh, goodness - my poor baby boy has an umbilical hernia. He's uncomfortable, not in pain per se. He'll go for an ultrasound tomorrow, then see what will come after that.
He did googling himself (always dangerous!) and got all worried, but then I was able to calm him down with some real medical info, and possibilities.

Seems to be a work hazard for guys in the trades - several other men he work with have it as well - always lifting very heavy things.

I just feel badly that he has to go through anything more - his stupid hand still hasn't totally healed up from his injury several weeks ago, although it's doing well.

I hope you don't mind, but I'd like to share something very personal.
My daughter & I have been estranged for many years. Consequently, I have been unable to see my grandchildren either.
In Sept., we were all @ the same wedding. I hardly recognized the kids, well, they're not kids any more.
Anyway, my GS & I connected on FB, but nothing from my GD until yesterday, when she sent me a friend request. I think I cried for an hour.
Here's her pic. I know I'm prejudice, but I think she's beautiful.

Hicks- you brought a big smile to my face and a tear to my eye. It's true, the next generation have to make decisions for themselves. She is certainly a beautiful young woman. Wishing for you that your beginning relationship with this young woman continues to blossom!
