Oh, I did that once with chicken soup - gosh, it hurt to realize all that lovely stock went down the drain...

And, like Lynn - though I'm a decade younger - experience noun aphasia - which is a constant source of amusement to my son and husband, as I give clues and incorporate hand gestures trying to come up with the word which has escaped me - it's very irritating.

Isn't if perfectly normal to be looking all over the place for your glasses, only to find them a half hour later....on your face

oh my that happens a lot around here. When Matt's mum had her brain surgery she was forever getting mixed up, she had a chunk of her brain removed..I can understand why, but now when she gets mixed up Matt just says "It's ok we are fluent in Gibberish here"

The other day, I took out some frozen cookie batter to thaw, took Lily dog out for a walk, & started mixing up a batch of....cookie batter. The brats & the doggy neighbours got lots of cookies (did I mention these weren't for humans?).

What I can't figure out is how I manage to lose so many things in a tiny studio apt. Some stuff (like pens!) I can blame on Quincy cat, since he's a thief. I suppose I should go & clean out my freezer, to see if my juice glass is hiding in there (I once put a muffin tin in the freezer to chill...& didn't find it for a few days).

I blame it on the transplant drugs (the best part of heavy duty meds is that you can blame everything on 'em).

Yesterday I was so angry that my cordless phone wasn't charging...then I realized the base wasn't plugged in (DUH!) I felt like a complete fool, and I laughed at my own stupidity.
I sometimes call my kids be each other's names or call the dog one of their names. They think its funny and always correct me.
My husband sometimes forgets his wallet or keys and also forgets to lock the house on his way to work. Our dog is really a guard dog I suppose!

I think it's because of Daylight Saving's time and all that clock switching.
I could blame it on Daylight Savings if it only happened twice a year.
There was also the time I brewed a pot of coffee...without the pot!

I was talking about this yesterday with a friend of mine. She wasn't immune to doing silly things either. She had just come home, carrying her mail. She had a bill in her hand, when she realized that she had to take out a roast to thaw. She opened up the chest freezer, put the bill down when she realized she needed both hands, and closed the freezer.

It took her 4 days to find the bill....in the freezer.

So nice to know I'm not alone in my insanity.

    HA! I'm not alone!

I can't count the number of times I'll be in mid-sentence and be hit by the aphasia issue...find myself gesturing and saying, "YOU KNOW, the (gesture, gesture) NOUN I can't THINK OF right now!!".

This is usually met by blank stares. And then I'll say "Just listen to what I'm thinking inside my head."

I take some serious meds for pain management, and do so as infrequently as possible, for reasons that will become clear below. My boss was leaving for a really important meeting and I wound up totally incapacitated on the day he needed to fly out. I called and said, "Okay, I'm going to have to take one of my 'stupid pills', is there ANYTHING you need before you go?". "No, I'm fine, stay home and relax."

Thank God. Okay - meds, check, bed, check, home phone off, check.

Four or five hours later, when I am pretty much too stupid to do more than drool effectively, I get a call on my cell. My boss needs a piece of computer hardware from his office. Which is not keyed to the master. On a Friday. At around 4:30 p.m.

Stoned out of my mind (wheeee!), I call Real Estate and allow them to "break in" to my office to get the key to his office. I call the IT guy to go with the Real Estate guy, because he knows what to look for. While they're consulting one another, I am put on hold and am sort of humming along to the Muzak.

I go out into the living room and sit down, because being vertical is too challenging for me right then. I wait for a few minutes and all of a sudden PANIC: WHERE! IS! MY! PHONE! HOLY CRAP. WHERE. WHERE. WHERRRRRE???

I look all over my bedroom and living room, nothing. I am SURE I haven't gone into the bathroom (and I have a *teeny tiny* condo) but after I've checked everywhere else and can't find it, I go look in there...and...eventually...notice myself in the mirror...HOLDING THE PHONE TO MY EAR.

Did I mention that I was hearing Muzak while on hold?

HAHAHAHAAA...OMG. I have laughed about that more times than I can count.
