Backyardigans dvd for $6.99 (for the cottage where we don't have On Demand)

We've decided to do a big gift for the kids then practical gifts and only a few toys. Last year they didn't play with half their toys.
We've already gotten them cots (for camping/sleep overs), car seat trays, clothes, personalized towels and board games.
Their big gift is a new play structure.
I'm almost all done shopping! Yay!

So one of these will be the family Christmas present ... our son won't find out until he sees it Christmas morning.

We are taking home one of the female chocolate labs. They will be a week old tomorrow. We've been looking for a dog since we had to put Max down back in March. Haven't found a rescue dog that would fit our family so when I heard about these pups and that they would be ready to come home on Christmas Eve I couldn't resist the thrill of the Christmas morning puppy.
I think my hubby is as excited, if not more so, than my son will be Christmas morning.

When our little one was 15 months, family bought her several toys. Some of those good educational & skill building types of toys are Melissa and Doug toys.
You will have to go to a site like Amazon.ca because it appears Melissa and Doug does not ship to Canada directly from their own website.Last edited by MarieC; Mon, Nov 4th, 2013 at 04:36 PM. Reason: Updated information.

I have two cousins who are 6 and 9, both girls. I want to get them something educational and hopefully not a toy. I'm looking for a book or something as they're not the strongest readers but do like it. Any idea of what series or books 6 and 9 year old girls are reading? I don't have kids and when I was 9, I was reading well above my level so I'm at a complete loss as what to get them.

Same. There are some great series though. Maybe look at chapters or amazon at reviews for that age group? If you're near a chapters, I'd actually recommend going in and talking to the staff. I find them really passionate and they know their stuff. Depending on what the girls are in to...
My BIL's are NOT into reading (they're 20 yrs younger than my dh). We got them things like Ripley's annual books, or the Cherub Series (Robert Muchamore). Amazing books for kids in the 10 - 12ish + range. Kinda like spy kids.

I already have the candle holders. going to also glue a crystal coaster on top to make it sturdier.
then put some of the decals from the dollar store on them to add some bling.

DH was so excited the other day... Christmas music is back on Rogers Channel 744 on the TV. Listening to it right now as I make my list of Shoppers gift cards.
Going to Bayfield Santa Claus parade tomorrow! Can't get much more Christmasy than that. Oh and buying new christmas lights for our outdoor wreath on sale at Target!
