I am focussed only on diet, will you all kill me if I say I have not done any structured exercise? The reason I am doing this is that for me diet is more important at the moment. The longer I can stay away from the foods that were causing me trouble the better. So in the future I plan on doing structured exercise, probably go back to lifting weights of resistance training, for now FOOD is my focus.

Patty, with my fibro, I simply can't exercise. Just putting plates, cups, or glasses back into a cupboard from the dishwasher causes my arms to feel like I've lifted weights for hours. The ache and pain is pretty bad. What I usually do is help my hubby by taking stuff out and piling them on the counter so he can slip them into the cupboards....at least I feel useful! Lol! Good for you if you can exercise; I'd never judge anyone who can't....good luck...

What are everyone's strategies for Feb?? I know my problem is I am home, so I am not hauling around those 50+ lb parcels daily, or walking or pushing the hydraulic lift under the cages and dragging them around.
I somehow thought me walking back and forth to the fridge and cupboards here would replace that exercise.
There is the bending over motion repeatedly to view the contents at the back of the fridge...and so on.

    keep at it everyone.

We started sending my grandfather to the day center, it is a place locally which is pretty much a day care center for Alzheimer patients. they take them for the day, which meant he was busy there all day and we would leave all of chores for him to do after dinner. We found though no matter what we did he had to wall the drive way each night. It is interesting to see what they do remember, we lived on a farm and had a very long drive way and as a kid the rule was I couldn't go past the trees at the end of the drive way. For some reason my grandfather remembered this (they think from him as always telling me as a child not to pass the trees and that it was determined he started showing signs of Alzheimer around the time I was born) and would not go past the trees when he walked.

I am also going to get a laundry hamper fill it with small towels and face clothes so she can sit and fold them. I tried circle a word puzzles but she can no longer do them. So sad as she used to do hundreds of crosswords a month.

Great routine, I am jealous, wish I could do this but certain actives are not an option for me, my knock knees get in the way.

Right now my work out routine is hauling around sample boxes for work. These are stored in my Dad's basement so I have to haul 30 kits up the stairs load them into the escape, jockey the cars around in the drive way (walking) take them to work off load them, and than when updated reload them, take them back haul them down stairs (so much easier) reload the shelves and take another 30 back to the shop than come back and re jockey the cars around (more walking) than back to work I go.

It is great what you are doing.

I need to dig my air walker back out, maybe this weekend when we go to clean up the basement and move out the office section we never use.

I can walk or use the air walker but I cannot run or jog because of my knees. I have tried in the past always end up at the doctor in pain and him reminding me I am knocked kneed my knees cant take running.

this thread in large doses is amazing and inspiring and so frickin funny. I am dying with workload and life load and the light at the end of the tunnel is the train coming for me. But despite a week of hotel food and all day meetings I stayed the same. I did not get to the gym since Monday but I just needed to catch up.

I so feel your pain, luckily I do not travel often but a week on the road ruins the diet especially if you aren't just staying in one place for the week. I tend to do 4 day trips which will include like 5 different states and usually somewhere between 30 to 50 hours of driving depending on which route I am taking. The only options are eat out and most of the time to make meetings fast food is the only option and working out is out of the question when you get to your hotel at anywhere between 11 pm and 1 am and you have to be back up and in the lobby for breakfast by 7 am to eat and get back on the road.

Does anyone else find when you have been on your dieting and sticking too it if you have a large meal it is so very bad? I had been dieting a couple years ago lost like 30 lbs, went on the road and a customer took us out to lunch and fed us a 7 course lunch. Everyone was pushing me to eat and my boss had reminded me to try everything to be polite. I felt so sick when I left that lunch from over eating.

Lynn, my fibro was so bad when I started going to the gym that I too couldn't lift my arms past my shoulders. Although I'm on really good pain meds I found that each day, little by little, it became a bit easier. I didn't start introducing weights into my routines until about a month (or even less I think) ago. I used the ball, the resistance bands, the machines, tread mill, ski machine, bike, stair stepper....and slowly, I started to gain more strength and my arms, legs, and almost every other body part felt a bit better. Now, if I miss a day or two, I start to cramp up again, and get sore, so it reminds me to get back to the gym again.

    Good morning, everyone!!
Thank you, Holly...this fibro is fairly new to me, so I've been doing a lot of reading up on what I've been feeling/going through; there are so many ways it affects a person! Even my IBS can be attributed to it for heaven's sake. And I do wish I was on really good drugs, too, lol...My doc won't let me take Aleve, and I'm too scared of popping Tylenol each and every time I'm in pain...I wake up in pain, and go to sleep in pain...sorry to go on about it....I don't usually like to blab about my pain....My hubby saw there was a fibro group meeting here, and I said that the last thing I want to do is sit around with a bunch of people and listen to them complain!
I see our doc in February so I'll talk to him about options....but Lyrica and drugs like that scare the bejeegers out of me, too.

Thank you, Holly.....the best part of all is that YOU are feeling better, stronger and healthier. With what you've gone through......I'm just so proud and happy for you!!!
