Jeff Bauman: man who lost legs is appealing for help with soaring medical bills

A man hailed as a hero of the Boston bombings who had lost both legs in the blast is now facing a pile of medical bills, but thanks to the power of the web, he will not be left in a lurch.
Jeff Bauman, 27, who was depicted in the now-iconic and extremely graphic picture being carried away from the scene of the explosion with his legs severed below the knee, helped police identify the suspects in the attack, one of whom looked him in the eye just before the bombs went off.

Although the 27-year-old victim is covered by medical insurance from his employer, Costco, his treatment and rehabilitation are expected to be both lengthy and costly.

Yeah but everyone else also had their theories he wasn't the only one that was wrong. It's not like in the long run his opinion about this matters anyways. We give to much credence to the opinions of "celebrities".

Yeah my go-to is never a celeb...

CNN, Fox, NYP et al where throwing out a hod loads of theories, opinions and total mis-directions due to the fast moving events and localised biases.

We currently have around 90% of what actually happened. Most of the rest will come out in the next few weeks and the trial though sadly the whole truth will never be available in our life-times.

Sadly, he isn't the only one. A lot of folks out there were predicting it was another group responsible. Now that the truth has come out there's only silence from them. Sad, really, the disconnect in this society.

I gotta say that I do find it rather entertaining to see all of the armchair forensic science experts coming out of the woodwork. lol Not here, I mean when you read the online articles about the bombings. People have this whole case put together start to finish and did you know that these 2 guys are completely innocent? Framed by the FBI??

While I believe that these 2 fellows could be as guilty as sin I recognize that anyone (even Government) could be behind it. What I think is wrong is that the surviving guy hasn't been read his Miranda rights. He should be given due process regardless of the crime he is accused of. But it sure is fun discussing this with friends who are certain that the FBI organized it all! /facepalm.

This is a federal case and therefore Miranda rights do not need to be read. They can be read later or assumed to be understood.

Today our niece ran in a Boston Memorial Run in Raleigh, North Carolina.

The race organizer there had finished the Boston marathon just a few minutes before the first explosion.
