Just got a weird phone call from someone claiming to be from Enbridge. Apparently, I am eligible for a rebate, but first she had to confirm my personal details. I kept playing along to see how far it went. Even when I told her I'm in a condo and had no control over providers (I'm not even sure if the building is even with Enbridge at this point), I was told I was due a portion of the rebate.

    Beware, folks.

I wish these twits had something better to do with their lives.

Here's an even better one. I just found out that I can't buy rubbing alcohol from the shelf (I figured there was some weird shipment issue in my neighbourhood). According to the pharmacist at the NF, they can't stock it on the shelves in case someone comes in and buys it to drink. First, who the heck would drink that stuff??? Secondly, would someone who drinks rubbing alcohol regularly, really be likely to shop at a grocery store??? So now I get grilled and have to show ID to pick up a bottle of $1.29 rubbing alcohol (that's the low concentration 50% I think, I'd probably have to sell my soul to get my hands on the 70% or higher).
I was just told to take iron supplements, my doctor isn't very thorough explaining things. I think I'm just going to eat lots of red meat(even though I'm not a big meat person), seems to be less of a hassle.
I know a lot of homeless shelters ban mouthwash with alcohol and rubbing alcohol because people do drink it as a cheap way to get drunk. Rubbing alcohol isn't expensive so I can see desperate people(or dumb teenagers) buying/stealing it as a cheap way to get drunk.

Ferrous Sulfate is the iron you can get over the counter without a prescription. I stopped taking that one though and switched to the liquid form - Floradix - the liquid gets absorbed faster so you actually take more iron in and yes its more expensive but I find it is MUCH easier on my system.

sadly those on very limited incomes (or even no incomes) who battle with alcohol addiction will drink rubbing alcohol because it's cheap same mouth wash and cold medicine and i imagine if it's a sizable problem in the area they would lock it behind a shelf... there is also the chance it could be minors taking it (buying or even stealing it to drink)

when I worked at a homeless shelter we went to all the stores surrounding it and asked them to stop putting rubbing alcohol and mouthwash on the shelves and put behind the counter plus paint thinners and certain solvents. We use to a few regulars that would come in after drinking mouth wash by the bottles and you could see there kidneys and liver swell and pop out of the sides. Had a few die from drinking mouthwash and had a few put into a coma from inhaling paint thinner. Its good that certain stores are smart and either don't care it or put it behind the counter.

I understand that. I just find it odd that I'm in downtown Toronto where there has always been an issue, but this is the first time in the 13 yrs I've been here that rubbing alcohol has been an issue. And cold meds and mouthwash are always easily available at all the stores, including the dollar store.

I just found it odd that I would be questioned on why I wanted to buy rubbing alcohol? Am I the only person who uses it to deal with ear infections?

^ here, and in this region, it's all these substances, plus a lot of Lysol. Some stores do have restrictions on them. Huffing is also a big problem.

it might be a case that there has been a rash of incidents in the area with rubbing alcohol so the stores have been asked to put it behind the counter

I just sent this message off to sobeys about a shopping trip this morning. It will probably be ignored but I still think it deserves to be sent.

"you are supposed to have a 3 day (Thursday-Saturday) only sale on maple leaf prime boneless skinless chicken breast. I went very early this morning to buy some and was informed it was sold out and they were substituting no name store package chicken instead. I bought a pack but am honestly disappointed. a very poor substitution and no rain check. Atlantic superstore has their store packaged boneless skinless chicken breast for the same price all week. "

LAZY people who expect you to do everything but then complain it is not done by some arbitrary deadline they made up in their head.
Maybe you should’ve bothered to answer one of the 25 emails I sent you.

freaking guy comes in my driveway and gets out of his van in spite of all the signs saying NOT to. My Wolfhound sees him and the screaming begins! Then after I save his dumb a$$, he tries to sell me a security system. I tell him no, no, no and he keeps trying the hard sell. Bugger off! You almost got your face chewed off and you think I need your system? Try getting out of your van again idiot!

I can either clear up my roscea and give up caffine, or have a angry red face for the rest of my life but keep my coffee.
