I absolutely adore corn - especially corn on the cob!
It's now just steaming, so I'll have two cobs - maybe three, they are pretty small - for lunch today.
Bought 12 yesterday, will freeze six of them.
I like mine with just a bit of margarine and a light sprinkle of salt. This thread is currently associated with: N/A

I so love corn on the cob. All the kids do too and they seldom agree on anything. I love when Sobeys has them on for 6/$1.98. 18 for 6 bucks, oh yeah!
After my mom passed 20 years back my dad married a lady from Tennessee. She showed us we were boiling our corn wrong. We thought it was suppoised to boil for 20 minutes. Nope, 3 minutes, that's it. Any longer and the sweetness leeches out of the corn. Sweet, sweet goodness!Last edited by DaveP; Wed, Aug 21st, 2013 at 05:30 PM.

Dave, I grew up with my mom cooking corn a long time, so that's how I used to do it.
Now, I bring it to a boil, cover it, take it off the heat, and let it steam for 10 minutes - makes it just right for me.
The corn I had yesterday was really, really young - it was good, but I like corn a bit more mature.

Sobey's Ontario has Corn on for $0.10 (4 day sale) time to stock up. We grill ours so we will grill it take it off the cob and freeze it to enjoy all winter. Now I just have to figure out how many to buy, it is a local store so if need be I can go today, tomorrow and Saturday after work.

Today's lunch was a chicken sandwich with the Christie's Potato Thins Dill Pickle. I love the Potato Thins, only flavour we do not like is the regular ones, they are too plain. The dill is a great dill like chips used to be before they all switched to creamy dill.

Oy, 10 cents a cob - my freezer would be full!
Here, pretty much everywhere has them about 33 cents each.
Had three very small cobs for lunch - barely anything to bite off them, but they were sweet!
Will have to supplement with a PB sandwich.

I bought corn recently for .89 a dozen. Never thought of freezing them, do you leave them on the cob?
If I'm grilling, I will spray them with olive oil and sprinkle on sea salt, let them get a little browned on the grill in my grilling wok. Nom nom!Last edited by Zonny; Thu, Aug 22nd, 2013 at 05:58 PM.

hmmm, last year had allergy test and I am slightly allergic to corn. Still having some for supper tonight. Corn is something I would like to actually remove from my diet after reading the Omnivores Dilemma. Today, and almost every day, lunch was a protein smoothie--almond milk, frozen mango, frozen blueberries, half a small banana, lots of kale and a scoop of protein isolate. The best lunch ever!!! Like a milkshake..

For $0.10 each I will be freezing in 3 different methods, some just taken off the cob and frozen for use in casseroles and soups, some will be boiled and taken off the cob and frozen and the rest will be grilled removed from the cob and frozen for a quick side dish, add to a pan with a little butter and heat through oh so good. This will hopefully keep us in corn for the winter, I got 10 last night and am going back for 20 tonight. One woman must have had over 100 in her cart.
