I have a question, I particpated on a WVL train and when I received the coupons I noticed one passenger had sent the 3 minimum however 1 was not a coupon from my WL at all. I kindly messaged her asking if she would like to try and fix the issue as I dont really want to leave a neutral or negative rating if it was just an accident (newbie). She massaged back and is CLEARLY not interested in any such thing and went so far as to say she would be leaving a neutral or negative for me if I rated her that way. I didnt do anything incorrectly so I know she cant do that, I guess my question is what do I do? Do I just let it blow over as it was just one coupon? Or do I leave a neutral or negative because the reason a wish list is posted on VWL trains is because those are the coupons you want.

Sun, Sep 11th, 2011, 12:57 AM #3092I am looking for many fpc coupons and willing to trade gift cards - especially stouffers and fresh produce. The expiry dates must be at least 1 month away. I'm also looking for betty crocker, pillsbury, philadelphia, nexxus, $3 beef, icecream, beans. I prefer large trades but have few coupons to trade.

Wow! I should be leaving lots of negative feedback then because I don't think any train I've participated in has been perfect.

I haven't gone anywhere near a VWL train, but it seems to me the "rules" on them are specific - if the rider before you does not have what is on your WL, then they are supposed to supply a P stamp in place of it. Adding in a coupon that is not on the WL and expecting it to be "ok" without contacting the rider shouldn't be the norm.
If you can't follow the rules of the train you join, then don't join the train.
Edit to add - I did notice that the rider that sammie is asking for advice about has started a different thread elsewhere publicly complaining about her though... not very appropriate IMOLast edited by KrazE; Sun, Sep 11th, 2011 at 03:09 PM.

I completely agree with you! I've hosted so many trains (and love hosting!) and probably spend about 4-5 hours per train going through all the coupons. You'd be surprised how many mistakes there are, and how a lot of people think it's "okay!" and go ahead and PM everyone asking if they will accept a coupon not even on their wish lists. For example, someone was asking for the call in motrin, tylenol, etc. and people sent her advil and actually got mad at me when I called them out on it! Their answer... "well I assumed it was any kind of pain medication, I'll just PM them so they will accept it".
IMO, if you don't have a lot of coupons don't join or expect to send some stamps. Everyone, one time or another sends stamps it's not that big of a deal!

I have sent stamps many times for trades, and received a number of them in return as well, but it's much more polite to PM someone and work something out rather than assuming they will accept something in lieu of what was expected.
While there are some who may not mind it, others may not feel the same way.
I don't even join VWL trains for the simple fact that most people's WL match my WL, so really, what could I possibly even send that would be of value to them to use if I'm looking for the same thing.

The last VWT I was on, the conductor asked for a list of the coupons you were sending ahead of time, before you mailed them. If you arranged an alternate coupon with someone, you PMed her with the thread of PMs so she knew both parties agreed (before mailing/sending your list of coupons you are sending). It saved a lot of time and bad feelings. Sometimes, you see another thread where the person is looking for coupons they did not have on their WL on the train, rather than send them stamps, I would rather ask if they want those instead - but within reason, stuff they said they want not oh I think this will do them.

Many of us have stuff on our wishlist because we want more but dont need more, and many trade on VWT from their personal stash. Some people also only have most wanted coupons on their WL because they will use them for trading, not because they want them for themselves - so dont give up on VWTs completely, I have got some of my best coupons from them

starting a thread about a current trade is never acceptable though, it is against the rules - all discussion about negative experiences should be in this thread
