avon I actually was curious to know if I was allowed to cross the border with all this radiation in my head. It's an honest question, right? lol This weather is so back and forth I wish it would just settle on one temp so we could get use to it!


Oh Lynn I'm singing my final countdown! lol The Drs were right though that the fatigue hits you in that final stretch. Wowsers. I feel like I could sleep most of the day, but I try to just keep awake as much as possible. Even though I yawn through it. lol Oh will you let us see your quilt when you're done? Are you one of these people who retire or "retire"? My uncles (2 of them) both "retired" years ago, and they work more hours now then they did when they worked. So I hope you'll enjoy your retirement!

Thank you Skippy. Much appreciated. Today was spent doing the errands I can't during the week and now I'm home relaxing with me feet up with my cat between them. Feels nice.


My radiation burn on my face is pretty bad and I don't understand why it's so bad down my cheek when I'm receiving radiation in my right temporal lobe. However, they did say they were going to radiate the surrounding cavity as well and what they consider the "surrounding cavity" I don't know. DNA/Tissue damage I assume would be to surrounding tissue? I pointed it out to the Resident Dr I saw Friday because it was really bothering me and she even said it was nasty lol so she gave me the name of a cream to pick up and hopefully it will help. She did say that this is the point when you start seeing the damage though. Meh. I have my MRI on November 1 with the result date TBD, so.....I will know in approximately 8-10 weeks whether my treatments were successful in any manner. *fingers crossed*

Tara, after my husband has had one of those radiated MRIs, they give him a letter to take with him in case he is going to travel. You should ask about it, I'm sure you would qualify! I'm sorry to hear about your radiation burns! Always the "side-effects", right? How is your ear-ache? I just wish I could wrap you up in some cozy bubblewrap! You definitely need some comfort! It was like summer here today! Got up to 78 degrees inside our house and about 25 degrees outside. Very nice! Do you have any pets? I can't remember. Well, good-night! Sleep well! I'll keep you in my prayers - and I go to the "big house" tomorrow where I figure there's a vacuum tube for prayers right up to the "big guy".

Thank you Mia. And you're right, just being around a hospital seems to drain you of energy, it just sucks to have to be in/around them. Can't wait to be away from that place.

Avon, I wouldn't be concerned other than the fact I was told the radiation still "works" for up to 1 month after the radiation ends, which is why I can't have an MRI until November. And with Christmas just around the corner (scary, right?!) I may want to go cross border to do some shopping. It would totally be my luck that something would be set off, and with a husband in the car we always get hassled anyways anytime when we go over the border hahaha. OH BOY. I might just pee myself right there. LOL I think I'll talk to my Oncologist this Friday to clarify things and get any papers I might need. JUST TO BE SAFE!

My ear isn't too bad, thanks for asking, I'm taking tylenol for it. The ringing in the ear is loud but meh. I'm just looking to the other side of all of this and knowing most of it's behind me! Though some bubblewrap could come in handy! lol And all prayers are definitely appreciated. Thank you. ((hugs))

Must feel good to be home again. Sorry about your ear. Its from the radiation right? I had a double ear infection 2 years ago. I was almost completely deaf. The ringing in my ears was so loud it kept me up at night. I think it lasted for over a month, so I feel your pain.

Have fun Christmas shopping..... on the way home yesterday night, I saw one house with their Christmas tree up in their front living room window, all light up and everything!!! Too soon....

princessjen it feels so nice when I'm home on the weekends I don't want to come back on Mondays. I dreaded coming back today. Grrr. But only 6 more days of radiation! Yes, the ringing in my ears and ear ache are both from radiation, nothing can be done for it, just suck it up. A month straight of ringing in your ears that keeps you up at night is certainly enough to drive you crazy. Thankfully yours didn't turn out to be chronic.

And as much as I am a self proclaimed Christmas fanatic.......a Christmas tree fully dressed in the front window already? Wowsers! That is REALLY early! I do have people in my apartment building with their Christmas lights up already as well. It seems weird. Halloween isn't here yet. lol

I don't know if I mentioned my MRI date previous (it's Nov 1) but I just got my results date today. I see my Oncologist on November 17th for the results. So I only have 5 treatments left. WOOT! And then I have 4 weeks until my MRI and 4 after that weeks until results. So 8 weeks from now to sit back and wait to see what's happening in my head. THAT is the hardest part I think. But did I mention only 5 more treatments? WOOT!

Sadly I think it's a case of having so many patients and juggling scheduling. It's always a 3-4 week wait for me to get my MRI results, rarely can I get them any sooner. I hate the wait but there isn't much I can do.

Okay, I've been a lousy friend these past few days, not checking in.....but two weddings this weekend, a date night with hubby, physio, a mess-up on the marriage licence for one of my couples that I had to get them to fix, and generally just pooped, sitting in front of the tv and knitting. When I'm not sewing this doggie quilt.

But don't you think for one minute, young lady, that I don't keep you in my prayers every night!!! Because I certainly do!

As for retirement, hubby retired in 2000, and I along with him, although I have been a wedding officiant for the past 5 years, and yes, like your father, there is NO retire in retirement! The days are full, and even with this stupid accident, I keep busy...well, the first month I was busy whining and pouting, but still. It kept me busy. I honestly don't know where the days go! And yes, I'll post my little quilt here, just for you...it's not extravagant or anything, just a little quilt for a doggie to lay down on, on the floor or sofa...it's the least I could do, since I can't be at the booth on the 4th. I also knit our grandson a toque, but I've learned since that it's not the colour or his new snowsuit, so it goes in with the charity hats I've knit so far.

NOW! Back to YOU!!! Your days of radiation are dwiindling down, aren't they? Is the last one next Monday? And geez, what a long wait until you find out how wonderfully everything went! But oh, it'll be so nice to be home again......there really is no place like it, is there? Two more sleeps and you're home in your own bed again...

So....how's this for "exciting", Tara? Guess where "the kids" are taking me for my birthday? Yes, a lovely dinner with my hubby and our DD and her DH....I just love, love, being with them! But after that. GUESS what they're subjecting me to??!!
"The Rocky Horror Picture Show" at our theatre!!!! GAH! So here's what happened....my hubby and I love the movie, Casablanca, and have watched it every anniversary for about the first 25 years. Yep. Really. So I've always wanted to watch it with our DD, but she's been too stubborn to watch it with me! It's her way of teasing me...sooooooooo...I said, wellll...if you want ME to see that show, then I want YOU to watch Casablanca with me! DEAL, she says! So last weekend we went to their home, she made up a lovely charcouterie platter, more nibblies, and we watched it!!! She loved it! Our SIl fell asleep. Sigh......but he's adorable, so I forgave him. Little brat of a daughter just gets a kick out of bugging me sometimes. I told her in my best Ukrainian Mother tone, that when I'm dead, she'll regret not making me happy by doing such a simple thing with me. Perhaps that helped.

SO now I have to go to see RHPS with them on Friday evening after dinner out!!!! What do I bring? Toast? hahaha! Now THAT would make her laugh!! I'll have to look into it....Maybe I'll just slink into my seat and hide. I hope there isn't swearing...that wold do my hubby IN!! Avon said there wasn't any...right, Avon?

Anyhoodles....that's what's going on around here..I thought you'd get a kick out of this old lady going to see that at our local theatre because of a deal I made with our DD..like she said, it wasn't what she had planned, nor I...we wanted a Moroccan dinner, but since this gal hasn't been in the kitchen doing anything in 3 months, and our DD still working 50 hrs a week, that didn't quite happen, but it was wonderful anyway!

See? When you're retired you can talk all you want, and bore everyone on here, and not care what anyone thinks!!! Hahahaha!

Ah, you know how much I love ya, and think of you.....and pray for you....and like Avon, I wish I could just wrap you in a big fluffy Hello Kitty blanket and keep you away from anything that could hurt you. Oh the results are available quick I'm sure, it's just as I said he has a lot of patients....and he's a busy man. He's the head Neuro-Oncologist and he's also professor at McMaster. Infact, I have radiation clinic every Friday and that's when I'm suppose to review the weeks treatments with him, but half the time I've been reviewing them with his resident Dr because he isn't even on site and is at some other hospital. lol The man is rather busy. And after meeting the many people with brain cancer walking thrugh here, there are many MANY patients in the same spot. Sadly. :*( Oh and by comparison a CT is way easier than an MRI, you'll do fine! But goodluck anyways!
