-angela hon it is nobody's business honestly
-my daughter will be married 3 years in january -and its starting for her she is 32now
-she even has people her own age asking-well let me tell youshe is a career woman-they just bougt a condo in Toronto last year-her hubby just changed jobs an number 1 they are not ready my daughter wants to travel a bit (like she said to me the other night i went thru 4 years of university and a post grad and went no where-even on reading week) they want to go to argentina in feb
-so may people say "your time is running out" well my mom had me at 38(mind you from a second marriage)

I m getting tired of hearing it too from my family and friends-my goodness let them decide when they want little ones
-even my mom before she passed she never pressured her-she always said "i love even if she never has childen" nd that was amazing coming from an elderly nana(they love holding little babies)

p.s she even has started a baby fund-so when she goes on mat leave one day (when she decides to get pregnant)she will be able to supplement her earnings

Angela I agree with the others, it's no one business and you have your own personal reasons and you are a grown women. I would just cut them off when they bring up the subject and say that's it's not open for discussion and change the subject. If they can't understand that it's an uncomfortable just remind them and change the subject or remove yourself from the conversation. It might be easier to do over the phone when chatting as you can say goodbye and hang up politely BUT if in person well then that can be more ackward as I believe your family does not live close by (sorry if I have mistaken you with another member on here).

    Morning All,

    Wishing everyone a great day

OMG what a day yesterday was...not good....

Started off in the am while sitting with Logan he nudged his feet after me telling him to be careful.....you know what happened!!! Large 3 cup coffee all over my hoodie and tshirt soaked not to mention the heat/burn.

Then Charlotte (the bulldog) I still can believe this but it explains a lot of things that have been happening over the last 2 weeks. She was hovering yes hovering over the end of the wing back chair and peeing...if I hadn't seen it I wouldn't have believed it. So I had that to deal with and she didn't seem to realize what she was doing .

Then I was disappointed with that magic cake but hey it was a new recipe. I don't recommend it, however, it did remind me of a crème brule which I do enjoy.

Then Jaden (ds1) came home super upset about that girl and the 3" red permanent marker on his beige pants.

Then the boys were fighting like cats and dogs and I was freakin' out.

Anyways the white are in the wash and going to be hung on the line to dry as it's supposed to be a beautiful day.

I am waiting to hear back from the principal or vice principal about the pants, he brought them with him to show whomever deals with this. Needless to say I don't have the $ to buy him another pair right now BUT I shouldn't have too.

Going to be giving MIL a hand with canning her tomatoes from the garden, when I can

Everything in my closet needs to be re-evaluated in terms of fit. After a baby, even if you're at the same weight, clothes just don't fit the same way around the middle anymore. I still need to go through the downstairs closet at put my wedding dress on kijiji before it goes out of style. I went through my shoes a while ago and haven't bought any since.

J&C, hope your DS is able to adjust to the new changes soon. Getting LO up at 6 AM when she used to get up at 8 AM has been really tough on her too. I guess the only difference is yours is old enough to tell you what's wrong whereas mine will just cry. Give him a big hug for me and tell him he's doing great.

I hope your mom is doing well and feeling better.

QOTD I have quite a few outfits I do not wear right now but that is due to my weight gain, I was self conscious before and now the added weight is not at all helping. But I have decided I have to do something to at least lose 20 lbs to see if it helps the infections which the bonus to losing 20 lbs is 80% of my clothes will fit again or fit better. My huge downfall was when I used to be into a guy and would find cute outfits and think of that would be great for a date and buy it yet the date never happen. So my new rule is unless I can find a way to wear it work and out I will not buy it. Luckily I work in a casual office so it is jeans and shirts here so if I can put on a shrug to cover my shoulder or wear another top under it to make it work appropriate than I can buy it because even if I do not get the date the outfit will be worn.

Did not get much done last night, I have developed this little red bumps all over my stomach which were just itchy yesterday but are burning today, but do not look as bad so hopefully they are going away. If not I guess it is back to the doctor for me which I would really like to avoid right now as we are insanely busy at work and I usually cannot get an appointment after 4 so I have to leave early to go.

Not sure I will get much done tonight Mom seems to have a version of the Man Cold. It is a slightly trying time in our house right now as well anyone who has dealt with a man cold will understand.
Maybe I'm really casual, but I wore a sweater and jeans on my first date with DH. DH wore his favourite casual clothes as well. On all other "dates" (and I call them dates in retrospect, but I did not consider it a date at the time), I honestly can say I can't remember what the other person wore. Maybe just something nice from your closet will do? A LBD (little black dress) with a sweater or accessories?

I don't know if you can do this at work (maybe if you work at a desk), but an ice pack works well to keep the swelling and itching down. I had itchy bumps after I gave birth and the doctors said it might be a reaction if I've changed detergents, certain metals in buttons, or an allergic reaction caused by something else. Are you using anything new?

The man cold... I've never heard it called that. I'm sorry to hear your mom isn't well, but the "man cold" thing is too funny!

Do you think I am being unreasonable in wanting a replacement and hemming cost?
I think I would probably ask the mom of the girl for the replacement cost. I really hope my LO doesn't do anything like that.

I graduated high school 10yrs ago and have been living on my own, etc. ever since. Here's the thing. My Dad keeps having the same conversation with me and it bothers me. Our son just turned 2yrs old earlier this month. My Dad has been asking about the next grandchild for the last year already. Just this afternoon my Dad was telling me that I should hurry up and get pregnant before winter. When I told him that we were planning on taking LO out ice-skating, my Dad didn't want me on the ice. It turned out that his reason for not wanting me on the ice wasn't because of the blood-thinners that I take daily, but because he didn't want me on the ice while I was pregnant. On that side note, dh insists that I am not allowed on the ice without a helmet, so I guess I am going to be the dorky parent wearing a helmet on the ice while still in winter boots.

So I guess my question is, how do I get people to stop? How do I get people to understand that this was not an easy decision for my husband and I to decide to wait a year longer than we had initially planned? How do I get people to understand that their questions hurt my feelings and haunt me? It's not just my Dad that asks when we are having the next baby: my brother, sometimes my mom, an employee at Sobeys, old acquaintances, random people at church, etc. DH told me tonight that I should tell my Dad to just F*** off next time he starts asking me about another grandchild.
Angela, don't let people rush you. I am certainly no spring chicken and you've got lots of company if you decide to wait. My mom was in her 40s when she had me and I hear Gwen Stefani just had a baby at 40. Babies will come when they want to and only you can decide when you're ready. (hugs)

People do not realize when to stop giving advice sometimes. I can't even count the number of people that have given me advice on LO, the number of people who don't even have children, or even like children handing out free advice. Sometimes, a bad thought is "haunting" me, I write it on a piece of paper to think about it later. If it's totally useless, like a pointless negative comment that makes you feel bad and can do nothing about, rip it up into little pieces and put it out with the compost (where it belongs). Those comments have no purpose other than to guilt trip you into doing something you're not ready for.

If you ask me, all moms get a free ticket to wear whatever they want. I still remember a night last year when I ran out for diapers in my blue pyjama bottoms and a red fleece jacket. I only realized how ridiculous I looked when I saw myself in the window of the drugstore. Unfortunately, some people like to waste their time judging others. If you were wearing a helmet on the ice, I would say "Good idea. I wish more people would be concerned about their safety." I wouldn't even think there were deeper health issues behind it. Please don't let other peoples' weird looks stop you from spending time with your LO on the ice. Your LO needs "mommy time".

Forgot to mention that we don't have an IPhone or IPad. I use DH's work phone (we're paying for it anyways) and use F-L-I-P-P and Reebee. I like F-L-I-P-P because you can select items and save them to "clippings". At the checkout, it will pull up all your clippings from different flyers in one screen without having to go back and forth.

    Good morning, everyone.

Late start for us - we didn't get up til 8am, then spent an hour out in the fresh air, spying on neighbours. Now it's time to play on the computer or make breakfast, brats think I have my priorities a bit skewed.

Condo board elections are tonight & I'm fool enough to run. Last time I ran for the board, my crazy neighbour started nasty rumours about me - haven't heard anything silly yet, but there's the better part of today to get through. Some people need a life.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Re: Closet Clean out. I just did it not long ago. Totally got rid of stuff I don't wear, too big. I also cleaned/sorted my socks/undies and bras. I dress up for work (dress pants etc) but keep my wardrobe fairly simple for work since paying lump sums on my mortgage is more important then the latest fashion. At home/weekend I am in yoga pants and I love them I have a cute dress I wore to the 2 weddings I went to last year and plan on wearing on our night away in October to dress up for a change

WRT what people think - when I first bought my condo, I was healthy, working full time, life was going along well. Took a few yrs to build it, in that time things changed. I got the keys to the condo 3 days before I started dialysis, so I was always around. Luckily, a lot of folks are 'artsy' in my neighbourhood, so working from home seems normal. No one questioned me too much, except for those times when WheelTrans (the bus for the disabled) brought me home from treatment cause I 'looked' healthy and I got some weird looks. Then some things went wonky with my calcium levels and I snapped some bones (9 of the 10 long bones in my feet went crack) and ended up with air casts on both legs. That's when I would go out of my way to explain to folks just how sick I was to keep the rumours from circulating (we have a lot of gossipy old twits around here - see crazy neighbour reference in my earlier post, sigh). Yes, it's no one's business, but the more I told folks, the more comfortable I felt and the more comfortable others were in knowing what was going on. At least that's how it seemed to me.

As for the baby question, well, I got asked that too, in addition to the why aren't you married, aren't you lonely, etc. I had one specialist (who I no longer go to) tell me I would make a good mother and I should have a baby. When I pointed out that with my health issues it probably isn't a good idea, she suggested I adopt a child from a 3rd World country. Really? I can barely take car of myself, you want me to take care of a child?

Funny, I've had friends, neighbours, co-workers, all sorts of people tell me I'd make a good mother. I made my mind up a long time ago that I would never have children because of my health issues (I don't want the responsibility/guilt of passing on my bad genes). I came to terms with it, so did my parents (I felt guilty that they never got the chance to be grandparents, but with my luck, I'd be too sick to care for a child, my spouse would be too overwhelmed caring for me and a child, so my folks would have ended up taking care of the grandchild anyway, which wouldn't be fair).

Sorry, I'm rambling, I guess what I'm trying to say is that it's no one's business but yours if/when you have a child. Doctors are always a good excuse and most people don't question their authority - just say that you have to wait until your health is more stable according to your doctor, so you have to wait and you don't know when that will be.

I just got called to teach the full day tomorrow for a school nearly 1hr away, the same one that booked me for the day in mid-November. I'm happy to get the work. The month is almost over and as a substitute teacher I get paid the month after I work...so this will be my October paycheque.

I do not think it is an allergic reactions as it is different than what my allergic reactions normally look like. Plus it is really only on my stomach, normally when I have an allergic reaction it either exposed skin or my whole body. The only new thing in my diet is I drank a glass of water with Apple Cider Vinegar in it the other day, but we regularly use Apple Cider Vinegar and it has never been an issue.

Oh the man cold, my dh is pretty good but my dad was the worse, short of having room service he thought that he needed to be cared for 24/7 (lol). he was so pitiful and the complaining (my word). Hope your mom feels better soon.

Hopefully your mom will throw something wonderful together for supper with whatever you have on hand to add to the pasta.
I think the girl who did this should be held accountable, they are old enough to realize what they are doing is wrong.

Angela, I understand where you are coming from on the "advice". My mom recently has gotten on a kick that she is never going to be a grandmother and it seems like every time we are out and sees baby items I get reminded that I am never going to need those. As well other members in my family have pretty much told me I am now too old to find someone who will put up with as I am now too stuck in my single habits as they put it. I am super sensitive when it comes to dating and usually feel like something is wrong with me so needless to say super bad subject. I used to sit there and take it and would than leave the event or excuse myself and go cry. Now I have found the best thing to do is stand up for myself, when it starts, I will nicely ask them to stop if they do not I will get mad and if they keep pushing I will go to leave. Usually at this point they will stop as they do not want to explain to the rest of the family why I walked out.

I am very over everyone giving me advice as I feel even those close to you do not always see the real you. I swear my mom still to this day looks at me as the lazy 13 year old and my Dad sees me as the 21 year old who still had a lot of growing up to do. AS for those who say they only do it because they love you, I am sorry but please look at me when you do this it does not take a rocket scientist to see I am almost in tears.

Angela I hate to say it as sounds so rude but I think you need to stand up to them and if it means hanging up on them so be it, you come first not their feelings.

Regarding my employment: I am anticipating mixed reactions to me being pregnant as a substitute teacher, some people might want to get me more work while others might frown on it (preparing to go on EI) and avoid giving me work. I know that legally, I cannot be denied work, but as a substitute teacher it is somewhat easy for people to avoid calling me into their school to teach.

Over these various conversations with my Dad I have told him that if I don't get enough work, I will not even qualify for EI, let alone max it out this time. I needed to let my body properly recover, which is best for my entire family. I am a high risk pregnancy every time because of my health history, my entire family is aware of this. I have reminded Dad about the expenses associated with my high risk pregnancies and paying for a growing family. I have told my Dad that it is my body and I will tell him when we are pregnant (although I don't know how many weeks after we know, before I tell others). So I guess my question is, how do I get people to stop? How do I get people to understand that this was not an easy decision for my husband and I to decide to wait a year longer than we had initially planned? I called the school again at it was Noon and I hadn't rec'd a call back from the principal and I called first thing at 7am. Apparently he spoke with my son, the girl who did this and the teacher who's classroom it happened in. He was going to call her parents and then call me BUT good thing I called as I told him they need to pay for the new pants and hemming = $65.00 as the young lady (13) had no right to do this intentionally which she said to the principal. The principal was no overly concerned he even told my son he didn't mind him wearing the stained pants to school....REALLY???? Anyways the principal said he would call the parents and ASK??? if they would pay for the new pant. AND to add to this situation apparently the clothing supplier for the uniforms has tons of stuff on back order and not supposed to be shipped for 6 weeks....I mean really we went and got these clothes in mid August so that he had his clothes. The principal did say he would check and see if they had his size just incase but that he needs to see if her parents are willing to pay.....So if they don't have his size he will only have 1 pair of pants as I only purchased 2 pairs as I do laundry everyday and know that by Christmas they will most likely not fit.....so frustrated and upset. I am getting a ride to watch his football game so told the principal I would pop in and check on the status. Wish me lucks ladies!!!
2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!
