No! No! Ajax already lost a north end Sobey's, leaving a suburban gap. If we lose a SDM or NF or our RCSS on top PLUS Target then I might have to resort to going back to Walmart. That can't happen. But GT might gain business, right?

Wow. That's awful. Hopefully our Superstore does not close, we just lost our Target & Co-op. I would be stuck with Sobeys and Walmart. Sobeys is too pricey & I hate Walmart!

More people losing jobs Really hope they are able to transfer staff to close sister stores or offer them some options.
We have 2 loblaws, 2 no frills and about 20 SDMs. I've been hoping for a RCSS for years, doubt it'll ever happen.

The news was out yesterday evening. The company did not give lots of details to the media. I think more news will come soon.
BTW, Loblaws posted their quarterly earnings. Both Loblaws and Shoppers MADE a profit in the last quarter. Profits in the grocery store business is difficult due to competitors and due to the perishable losses with fruits, veggies, meats, fish etc.

I wonder how many of the locations to close will be SDM just due the number of locations they have close together which now some are even in the same plaza as a Loblaws/RCSS or various other Grocery store that also has a pharmacy.

A bus station is where a bus stops. A train station is where a train stops. On my desk, I have a work station.... what more can I say........

This is the scenario I'm thinking about. The older SDM in town is across from the Fortino's. Only thing is where would the post office go if that SDM were to close (lots of retirement/condo/town houses in the area)? Fortino's is updating its prepared foods areas. The SDM never got its reno last summer. Hmmm.

I used to be able to go three different directions when shopping to get to SDM, now there is only one left. Now I head to a bigger town instead of more locally to shop and hopefully these closings won't affect but I am sure they will one way or another.
I feel bad for all those people that will be losing their jobs.

I'm hoping my No Frills isn't on the list. We already lost one and the next closest one is in a really busy part that I like to avoid because the parking lot is impossible.
Unfortunate that so many people will be out of jobs. Hope some stores can absorb those staff members.
