Just watched this on CHCH - they recommend looking for Foodland Ontario products as they are cheaper:

I had a coworker one time tell me, that all of the food her and her family bought was organic, healthy, etc. They drove an old crappy car and didn't care about material things, because all that mattered at the end of the day was their health, and so they made sure they had money for the best of the best when it comes to that. I love saving money on groceries when I can, but it made sense to me because myself as well as many others spend more money than we should on unimportant things. I think about what she said when I get upset about the cost of groceries, because although expensive groceries bugs me because everyone in this world should have easy access to affordable healthy food, and it really shouldn't be about businesses making a profit on something so vitally important for everyone, until things change at the end of the day you have to do what you gotta do to take care of yourself and your loved ones.

There are deals to be had. We picked up cases of clementines for $2.97 on Sunday! And they are the best I have ever had! I asked why so cheap (the smaller bag was more!) and he said they received too many skids! So that is our fresh fruit for the week (and bananas ) There weren't any fruit sales really so I was going to see what I found. Bananas and strawberry smoothies were my plan for the week.
We just have to meal plan and be flexable with our meal planning. Find stuff on reduce/clearance/fantastic price? Then plan you meals around that! (Last week I found omega eggs for .99 cents and I received 600 PC pts each)I bought 2 and left the open/broken one- they expired 2 days later so we had bacon and eggs for dinner. French toast for breakfast next day and then boiled and fried the rest for breakfast and snacks the next few days

Why Sobeys will have some produce shortages:
In addition to the adverse impact of the lower Canadian dollar, flooding caused by El-Nino have contributed to supply shortages and price increases on produce from California and Mexico, said Claude Tessier, president of Sobeys Quebec.

“From what we hear the situation is going to be for the next three weeks and then we’ll see how things evolve (along) the west coast,” Tessier told reporters after Sobey’s CEO Marc Poulin spoke to the Canadian Club.

The company, which also operates banners such as IGA, Safeway and FreshCo, is struggling to deal with the worst situation in 30 years by trying to import fresh food from other growing areas such as Florida, Morocco and Spain, Tessier said.

Cauliflower and grapes have been harder to access, with just 20 per cent of the normal delivery of some goods being shipped to stores, he said.

I knew about California's drought situation well from last year. Did not know about the citrus greening matter causing orange trees to die.

Cauliflower $ 2.97 at No Frills starting next week , in case you missed the 2 for $ 5 sale at RCSS or don't have one close by.

I've noticed that tomatoes are really high now.
But baby wipes have gone back down. Last year they were at least a third higher than they are now.
It is not how much we have, but how much we enjoy, that makes happiness.

I think a lot of household/personal care items will get cheaper as people have less money now with the high cost of food - manufacturer's have to compete for our dollar now.

I know, I miss tomatoes! Romas this week were triple the price I would normally pay for them.
Two weeks ago I had a Whopper, and wow did I enjoy the tomatoes in it, lol!

    Are tomatoes $1.27/lb at Walmart?
