Good morning everyone! The weekend is over . Had a good weekend with lots of fun (Relay with friends) (Casino fun- Came home with $200 extra , Free Dinner and Free concert- Whitesnake!) House cleaning and laundry.
Now back at work but thinking of taking a vacation day this week- The day my DS has his 1st exam that starts in the afternoon. Then I can drive him with out being rushed and get stuff done around the house in the morning then go deal shopping in the afternoon .
Better get some stuff off my desk then so I can make it happen.

I can honestly also say I have not thrown anything out of the freezers for 5+ years. My secret is my freezers are very well organized and I only stockup on meat when on sale and I kind of have the meat sale cycle down ie FB pork loins, whole chickens etc. So I stock up when I'm down to 2 and this way no freezer burnt foods.

Also on the pantry portion, I used to have all my extras downstairs in the cold storage/storage room BUT haven't done that in over a year. I keep everything in the cabinet above the fridge (nice and deep) and my 6 shelf pantry. This way I know what I have and what I don't. I haven't thrown anything away since I did this a year ago.

    Inquiring Minds Want to Know!!!

How do you battle not wasting food (fridge, freezer and pantries).
The last time we threw food out was about a month ago when I found a quarter of a cucumber that managed to hide itself We create meals out of leftovers - we both grew up in households where it was almost considered criminal to throw out food. I think the key thing is to be aware of what is in your fridge and not to stock it so full that things get left in the back and forgotten. My son's girlfriend always can't believe how 'empty' our fridge looks because at her parents place when you open the fridge door things fall out because it is so packed. I asked her if her Mom threw out food and she said, "yes, a lot."

So happy for this group. Would have missed the deal at SDM- 20% off gift cards for Sporchek. With a sporty guy I shop there for him often (and for myself) Love the sales on shoes, coupon then use Gift card. Just bought $300 in GC's for $240.00. I think I should buy more.

Since we were talking about food and spoilage recently, I found an interesting episode on Marketplace about expiry dates and grocery stores. Perhaps it's also a reason why we need to toss things in our refrigerators! I think the segment is about 22 minutes long.

Tonight we are having pasta for dinner (with chicken- something fancy my wonderful chef will make)

I think it will be a lazy night. Will tidy the kitchen and make sure all clean dishes are put away so I wake up to clean kitchen but I think that is about it.
    Have a fantastic evening everyone.

I had to laugh as our fridge either looks bare with the glass containers with lids that contain leftovers BUT we don't waste either.

@Angela273 great news about your sil, I wish her a speedy recovery
@coupon girl if you don't mind my asking why is your anti-virus only updating Wens or Thursday? Be careful there are a lot of scams with respect to Norton etc.

Coupongirl: I am with J&C on this. Be careful with your anti virus, unless your PC is in for repair there is no way a scan takes days.
Food waste: I hate it and I hate my fridge. Stuff gets lost and it has crappy storage. But since a Reno is in the next two years I will live with it. We also just a tiny bar fridge as a back up so it's harder to stock up deals.
We just found out today we have to rip up the laundry room again in a different direction as some pipes have collapsed. This is going to be expensive. We already did this once in the other direction and it's at least 3000.00. So not what I planned for. I am now planning to buy only fresh food for the next month so no stocking up on deals. I am not even reading the flyers, I will just resist. We have enough to meat to last until August and Logan is happy with a hot dog for lunch and I was able to buy 5 packs for free with the coupons. Both boys are done tutoring so that's another 100.00 a week for the repair.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Good morning! Nothing exciting today. Work day and then DS's sports tonight. Kitchen was clean when I left this morning so that makes me happy. Once we get home tonight I will be happy with just cleaning DS's lunch bag and getting him off to bed early. Will try and put away the one load of laundry that is folded on the diningroom table lol

Goodness, it was hot yesterday. Nothing says hot like being pregnant and having to wear a great big body stocking up to your chest in the form of maternity pants as another layer under your clothes.

The weather network said it was 40C with some rain coming to relieve the temperatures. Of course, I kept the laundry inside, and then of course, it didn't rain....

I wrote into PC Plus about an offer for any size PC diapers. In store, they had a two for one sale on small packages of diapers. On the receipt, it shows 18 individual packages, but I only got the offer nine times because it was a buy two, pay $10. I told them that I was missing points but they responded by saying I already received some points for the purchase. If they don't offer them per package, I'll return all 18 of them.
