@Lynn49 - I agree. So glad the magnesium solved your problem. It’s great your doctor didn’t try to prescribe some drug to you in the hope it might work.
I had a bad experience with prescription drugs so I routinely refuse them now. Don’t know about here in Canada but in the US doctors and pharmacists gets lot of ‘gifts’ for pushing pharmaceuticals (or at least they used to). At one time I had 6 pharmacists in my family, some of who owned their own pharmacies. The microwave in my kitchen was a gift from a drug company to a family member who gave it to me.
Lynn, what kind of magnesium are you taking? There are so many different kinds - thought I would store that info away in case I ever need it I do get cramps in my calves occasionally when I’m sleeping. I think it’s from low potassium or being dehydrated.
The supplement I take to help with sleep is a combo of magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium malate. Each pill is 67g of elemental magnesium and I take 2 pills before bedtime. I’m still confused by the whole elemental magnesium thing. The label says 555g of magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium malate delivering 67g of elemental magnesium...?Last edited by Silk; Mon, Dec 14th, 2020 at 04:35 AM.

@Silk and @Lynn49 as well as taking a magnesium supplement you could eat some ( or more ) bananas? That was what my specialist recommended when I got those leg cramps.
Good morning to everyone else here! Pretty decent day, I was blushing with happiness and surprise this morning at a Christmas card I received from the one....the only..... @wolfwoman !! Thanks very much....I've already removed the inspirational ornament from the card and placed it prominently on my Charlie Brown Christmas tree.
It is keeping my Grinch ornament company....the one that simply states 2020 Stink, Stank, Stunk.
Seriously though, your card made my morning!!
How probable is it that the missing parcels I am waiting on will still arrive in time to wrap up for the 25th!?
The waiting is driving me bananas! ( which are a good source of magnesium and potassium )
Have a Happy Day all!!

@walkonby, @Silk, the magnesium I'm presently taking has magnesium oxide and magnesium stearate and some other stuff, but it's 500mg of magnesium per pill. Honestly I've never paid any attention to the type of magnesium I've been taking as long as it works and I never get those leg and foot cramps ever again! Generally they all perform relatively the same functions although side effects may differ.
My magnesium, made by Option+ in Canada, magnesium oxide is the main ingredient, 500 mg in each pill.
Honey, as long as they work at keeping those unbearably painful cramps from occurring, I'm happy.
Our doctor never was a pill-pusher, but he just retired and as yet, none of us has met our new doctor, a young woman, but she sure keeps tabs on my Hubby's INR readings (viscosity of his blood, since he has a mechanical valve in his heart...we don't want sludge going through there. ). And from what we've heard from our pharmacist and the gals where he gets his blood-work done, she seems to be quite highly regarded. Seems so, so far.
Walks, I'm taking a potassium supplement since I'm on lasix (among 2 others) for my high blood pressure which is nicely controlled and has been for many years. The only way I enjoy bananas is in a smoothie or cut up and drizzled with chocolate sauce. Hahaha...a treat I haven't had since I was a kid.
I'm thankful for our health, I'm on very few medications for being 71, according to our pharmacist, lol, so I think that so far, I'm doing pretty well. I do take other supplements, Vit D and E, and our former Doctor recommended only fish oil and nothing else was necessary.
Some fun, huh? Hahaha!!

I've had to do that before, @GoJays ...bit of a nuisance, but when the gift comes, it's a new surprise!
I've noticed that on amazon, things that I've recently ordered just for myself, sure aren't promised in a day or two, more like sometime between Christmas and the first week of January. I guess everything is getting really backed up. Or they're still looking for my lipsticks..hahaha!!
I sure hope your gift arrives before Christmas!

Hello friends!
Well the repair person who was to, perhaps, fix my washing machine today did nothing but disappoint and marginally p#$$ me off. Bottom line is that I probably won't have a working washing machine for several weeks. And today was the last day that I could use the machine downstairs. (New tenants moving in tomorrow. )
So schlepping my laundry over to my BrotherB 's house in a few days is looking like a distinct possibility.
Tomorrow it's the dishwasher replacement person.
I got about 1/2 way through writing Christmas Cards to my church "family" while waiting for the repair guy today.
Tomorrow, finish up those cards and mail them, order my granddaughter 's gift from Amazon to be delivered in the States, looks like it may not get there in time, but hopefully the cards I sent last week will.
Tootie 's beginning to have some breathing issues at night, poor sweetie.
I have to also work on crafting her some foot coverings for when we go outside.
Blue Jay Doucey has bought my BrotherB 's book. My BrotherB has raised $2,000 already for the Black History Museum in Chatham- aiming for $5,000.
Well, hoping any pain people may have disappears, that you all stay well and safe.
Sleep well, my friends!Last edited by avoncallingu; Mon, Dec 14th, 2020 at 11:33 PM.
