whoa? what day is it? The joint b'day party was a smashing success! Not many in attendance but the ones who were here gave us " all the feels! " .
What an emotionally charged day it turned out to be. Pulling off a surprise that works is very satisfying.
Of course DS and DH were aware of the party BUT what neither knew about was the 1/4 slab photo cake that I had hidden in the back room.
Earlier I gave an Oscar worthy performance ( with tears ) apologizing to DH that I'd been in too much pain to bake them a cake.
So sweet, he understood....then he offered to run out to Metro to buy something! He was thinking more about DS than himself.
Whew, that was close! I talked him out of that.
Then after their presents were all unwrapped DD and I brought out the cake with both DS and DH photos on it. He gave me a look, then said " you lied! "
It's not really lying...I was in pain all week. The food(s) all went over so well and now I get a reprieve from the kitchen and prep for a few days until our Christmas Eve feast.
Btw, I have slept MOST of this day away. I did wake up at 8 a.m. but since then I've dozed off for naps 3 times.

…..aaaaand…now we have the privilege of BUYING plastic bags for our garbage? Or will paper bags be given for free? And where will we get all the newspapers to line those bags?!
Yes, that’s what our Moms did in the olden days! Oh, wait……we now have to subscribe to huge newspapers again?!Last edited by Lynn49; Tue, Dec 20th, 2022 at 09:30 AM.

Thanks @Purdee - I do remember them now that you mention the name. I was never big on renting movies. I think I only did that once or twice and one time I know was a film for research purposes. Didn't they have a major competitor in Canada - or am I mistaken? Anyone remember?
Have a great life!

Hmmmm, @Lynn49 I detect a hint of melancholy ( for the Olden days? ) and notes of WTF!?? ( at having to BUY bags to line garbage bins ) but correct me if I'm wrong....haven't we had to buy plastic bags to line our small compost bins kept in the kitchen for a while now? Personally I found a work-around. Generous customers at Metro have provided me with free cat litter bags and compost liners for a few years now when they've deposited their very clean, used probably once plastic bags in the receptacle on the way out of the store.
I always peer in to see what's in there and score many times with 10-15 bags.
Sigh....I guess soon NO stores will have anymore plastic bags. Wonder if I can re-train our cats to use the toilet??
