@avoncallingu , I've prepared soup-in-a-jar and hit chocolate in a jar as a gifts to a busy Mom friend years ago, but not cookies. Sounds like a neat project...what exactly is it all about?
Avon, all I can do is express my relief that your visiting Brother and his Wife understand how terribly difficult the situation you're in now is affecting your health! Your brother's deteriorating condition is requiring your constant attentiin to the detriment of your own wellness. I understand how defeated you might feel, the guilt you mentioned, but you did and are doing everything you possibly coukd to care for him, but this has gone past even your heroic capabilities. You're only human, my dear Friend. {{{Big hugs}}}

Cookie decorating day today. Avon, "flooding" a cookie means that I make royal icing, outline the cookie, wait a few minutes to let it harden, then thin the icing a hit and fill in the top of the cookie with it to look like a shiny skating rink. then I can decorate them, I think as little snowman faces or ornaments. It's been years since I made them, but DH's gorgeous sugar cookies are so beautiful and yummy, I just hve to do them justice.

Morning folks! Had a great sleep but was awakened in a start by a phone call.

Blank slate today so I am going to spend time dealing with the mess in my bedroom and taking unusable things to Value Village.
Went there yesterday to see if I could find anything festive for our little patio that looks so empty now. People in the building have even been asking me if I am going to decorate as they enjoyed seeing my summer and fall displays.
I don't have an outdoor plug -so no lights. BUT I found a very cute Flamingo wearing a Santa hat- about 2 ' tall. It's quite "kitschy" but should put a smile on faces.

My room is very bright which means that there is snow on the ground.
My headache is subsiding. Almost time to leap into action. Ha! Mighty Mouse is on her way!

It's my step-son-in-law's birthday -hope he got the card -but I had better send him a Facebook greeting.( Don't these relationship definitions get complex!)

Oh my goodness, my cookies turned out so cute!
Tomorrow is quilt day, and time sure is flying!

Remember: it's the Macy's Thanksgiving Parade tomorrow!!! So excited! I love seeing the snippets of Broadway performances.

@avoncallingu , I actually did take a picture of them yesterday! I'll post it later today fir sure. Keep in mind though, I'm old now and sometimes my hand shakes, ruined a couple of them which became our "taste testers".
Yep, up early, SO excited about the parade! I'm pvring it on another channel, too, for later.
@flemeth , just as soon as I've had this coffee (and maybe one more?) and this little burrito unfurls herself so that I can move, I'll post his recipe for you. I can't believe how easy it is for him...."Do you need another batch?" Um...sure? "Okay!" And poof, another batch is cooling, hahaha. Mine tend to crumble or not hold their shape with cutters. I hope these work for you, Flemeth.

@flemeth, here's my Hubby's recipe for you!

Hubby's Sugar Cookies

1/2lb softened butter
1C sugar
1 egg
2 tsp vanilla
2 tsp baking powder
2 3/4 C flour

Cream sugar and butter on low until fluffy mix in egg and vanilla.
Whisk bp and flour together, and add slowly to mixer.
Continue to mix until a consistent mixture forms.

Flour rolling surface and roll dough to about 1/8 - 1/4" thick.
Cut with shaped cookie cutters.
Bake @ 400 for 12 minutes or until golden on the outside edges. Let cool in pan for a few minutes then place on cookie rack to cool
Ice when cool.

They actually look better in person; they're not very consistent, but they're sincere..

-2c and grey here today...going to dinner w/friends later @ my DS's restaurant. Ds's fiancé's car got hit yesterday by a local lawyer cutting through a parking lot to get somewhere the a%*hole. Why can't people pay attention?

oh grrr! @Tweets77 to that lawyer in a hurry! No personal injuries to your DS's fiance I hope? @Lynn49 like the joint effort on the Christmas cookies, they turned out just lovely, and I believe I read somewhere that pretty foods are almost no calories!!

The day seems like it has flittered away from me. After a 10 a.m. specialist check up, a small shop, a major poop cleanup once I returned home ( ty Rufus and Murphy! ) and here it is nap time soon....ha ha ha .
Well I still have to drop DD to work, but THEN I'll nap.

Hoping everyone's " almost " Black Friday day is good....get your typing fingers ready for tomorrow to get online and get some bargoons!! I might surf a bit and see if anything shiny catches my eye.
