Hello friends. Birthday Part1 officially over.
Big thanks to a certain northern "sis" who sent me the most beautiful flowers! Almost missed them as I was heading out the door for an evening with a friend. More specifics tomorrow. I'm falling asleep.
Thanks for all the good wishes sent my way.
See you tomorrow! Sleep well and keep warm. That polar vortex thing is looming.

Good morning, everyone!!
@avoncallingu , really enjoyed chatting with you this morning, and I'll tell the story: when the florist called Avon informing her of the delivery, I had given them the wrong address!!! I'm blaming that on old age; I'm a year older than her so.....I think that's fair. So Avon had to pick them up herself...good grief, sorry 'bout that. OTOH, they refunded me the delivery fee! Hahaha!!
@GoJays , oh, I believe you about snickering at many memes out there that you and I wouldn't post, but aren't they delicious, though? Some people sure have a warped...I mean 'creative' sense of humour. Loved your post about the potted plant, that's so you, however I'm sure you have some very wonderful friends.
Well, I guess we're all preparing for a new cold-front that's bearing down on us. We're expecting -21 overnight plus snow tomorrow. Our DD and her Hubby are driving down to Casino Rama tomorrow with friends for a concert there, spa appointments, etc, so it'll be a nice weekend for them and for us, with our GS here. So a busier weekend than our usual.
OK!! Enjoy your day, hope you all find some sweet joy today!!

@GoJays - in my case, the plant is dead...
It has warmed up to -30, -40 wind-chill.
Nurse didn't come yesterday, so I called and was told that I was booked inm for Friday. I gave the sob story, explaining that it hurt a lot and that I haven't looked at it since Sunday. She said she would see if someone had a cancellation.
Well, within a few minutes a nurse called and said she would be right over. Turns out it was the nurse who saw me lots during my last blister fiasco.
She said she could see healing already around the outside of the blisters, so I would not need to have a Coband bandage put on that leg. Whew!
She cleaned it up, put on a med and bandage - a type that my regular compression stocking could go over. So she put it on with quite a struggle - they are the newest ones so are still quite tight.
My husband is to change the bandage on the weekend, then the nurse will come Tuesday to see it.
Yesterday, got a wedding invitation for my niece's wedding in May.
How do you feel about a couple asking for money as a gift? - it was on their wedding website, not the invitation.
A few weeks ago, got an invitation to her bridal shower in March. For gifts, they want wine, cider, or craft beer.
Any recommendations?
Ah, how I miss the old days of gifting for weddings!
Now that I don't have to wait for a nurse, I am hoping to have a nice nap this aft. Sleeping has not been going well for me...
Stay warm, everyone, have a terrific Thursday!

Hi, @Natalka , what a relief it must be that your new blister is already healing. I hope that continues and that you'll be quickly healed.
As to that wedding invitation, yep, things sure are changing. If a couple have been living together for any length of time they likely have all the bits and pieces they need in place, so I guess cash is king...I mean we all had dorovannia (sp) and received envelopes of money from guests all lined up to present them and take a shot of whiskey or brandy (ladies) with us. I was too young to drink, thank goodness...I was 20, so escaped those shots! Anyway, perhaps the invitation could have made that reference instead? Whatever, they should say how the money would help them, where it would be applied...mortgage, etc, but heaven forbid, "honeymoon"!
As to the shower, again, if they have everything already, then special wines, beers would be fun...I mean, I'd love to tell everyone that their bottles will be labelled, and each time they opened one, they'd toast and send up a blessing for them!
Yep, times have sure changed and I guess we adapt or get left behind..Last edited by Lynn49; Thu, Jan 16th, 2020 at 02:54 PM.
