I went out looking for gift sets at Shoppers and found out that most locations that were open on Christmas day reduced them on the 25th darn! I was able to get a Marcelle set half price as I need a thicker moisturizer outside with the cold, it seems to make a big difference. Also plugged in my humidifier as my house is so dry. Just have some exchanges to do today and groceries.

Dh is a big fan. Not frugal, but he has seen it in the local theatre 3 times already. First with me, then with his best guy friend, then with our son. Our son stayed awake the entire time, and stood to watch between the seats when there were fight scenes. On the drive home, he tried to convince Dh to buy him a BB 8 robot. Interestingly, dh’s friend bought our son this remote control BB8, our son gets to open it on the weekend. Ds says “it was a blast.” My younger sister bought him some shirts for a Christmas, including a glow in the dark Star Wars shirt that he wore to the movie last night.

We rolled and deposited the money from our son’s piggy bank. It was so full and heavy that the back would pop off. He had just shy of $80 in it. He’s happy that it will earn interest for him.
I believe I’ve mentioned that our son has had a growth spurt, but he is still slim. This creates a problem when it comes to pants. He has a large bag full in his bedroom closet, but they are all to big in the waist. He prefers “cumfy pants” that have elastic waist. He will also wear jeans with the adjustable elastic and button waist, though he doesn’t like them as much and the button on the hip can get uncomfortable. I have 6 pairs of his pants to men’s, 1 pair us an easy fix...but I don’t know about the others. Anyway, our local Salvation Army has a 50% off sale on all clothing today. I picked up 5 pairs of pants and a brand new t-shirt for him for only $7. 3 pairs of pants basically fit him now, along with the shirt. I wasn’t up for looking too hard for anything else.
Dh has already made it clear that we will spend one day this weekend cleaning, organizing, purging various areas in the house. We have a new shelving until that is supposed to arrive in a couple of weeks. It will be used in the living room, near the front door. We will also assemble the build & play construction zone toy that was one of the gifts from my dad it is rather large, so we had to make room for it.Help me out with Swagbucks and we can both earn gift cards and PayPal money

Speaking of Value Village (30% off dresses sale tomorrow), I popped into my local store before I went to Longos this morning. It was eerie but I hardly saw any dress that one could say was for a festive New Year's Eve event or even a wedding. Most of the dresses will disappoint unless there's warm weather on upcoming vacation! I suspect that the last 50% off clothing event lead to a stampede on fancy apparel.
I got my items at Longos and used my $10 redemption credit. Found 2 beer cans on the walk to the stores (milder temps but shoulder of road is mostly windrow still). I took the bus to Turner Park library and am finishing up my online time.
I don't want -20 anything this weekend but the cold is getting colder again.2021-Bring on the sunshine, sweets & online shopping.

I went to walk around Wal-Mart this afternoon just to get out. I ended up finding a bunch of those McCormick gourmet coupons and stocked up the pets and house on some food items for 20 cents total!! Awesome coupon.

Found today from an acquaintance that my local branch was open yesterday. I enjoyed my trip elsewhere as I had the Friday-branch is closed memo stuck in mind.
Played a $1 scratch ticket last night and no lottery happy dance occurred. Did find two more beer cans at a bus stop-cashed those in today along with a bottle from home (40 cents).
While I won't be online for two days, I have several books and magazines to occupy those hours. Sibling cancelled the cable service as his special rate was ending (I'm personally delighted that the tv will less likely be on and no more extra boxes/remote/cables will be on the table-joy!).
Had popcorn, Quality Street candies and a movie last night after a warming dinner (my, how cold it got when Ms. Sunshine left the sky last night. Her buddy, Winter Windchill, is back for several days per the weather forecast).

Although we are setting records for the cold outside, I still made a $12 sale today. We’ll brave the cold tomorrow to pick up some things at WM before certain coupons expire. I’m also going to get some free gas at Huskey with a personal points offer. I am buying 11 items for twin girl to grow into, picking up tomorrow for $5. Picking up a small bag of clothes for our son tomorrow, for free from another person.
Dh, our son, and I spent nearly 2hrs assembling a Christmas toy that grandparents bought for them, without asking first. It is about 2.5’ cubed in size. We had to decide how to make room for this toy, or else sell it and never let our kids play with it. I got rid of an extra dresser in our twins’ room, which made some room for this large construction toy.Last edited by Angela273; Sat, Dec 30th, 2017 at 10:59 PM.

The snow and record cold have resulted in 2 FB sales of snow pants. I will have to do my year end totals but I think I sold more than last year and I really did not think we had much to sell.
Happy New Years everyone. See you in 2018.Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

I have a question about SCOP. I was checking out winter clothes for next year for our kids. There was a big sign saying 40% off last ticketed price. I scanned a pair of ski pants, the tag said $20 and that’s what it scanned as on the price checker. If I’d taken it to the till, would this item have qualified for SCOP?

Most stores here when they have a sale like that the person manually removes the discount at checkout. I bought jeans that were 50% off lowest ticketed price which was $22.99 which is what the jeans scanned at but the cashier manually added a 50% discount.
I believe stores have to do this or else a customer would fight the lowest price is the price scanned as I also had another pair of jean that were marked at $25.99 but when they scanned them they came up at $17.99 and they applied the 50% off to the $17.99 as it was a reduction that not been marked. I do not believe this falls under SCOP as it is a discount not a marked price.
