Not a bad day here I managed to get the following things done:

Laundry is done, folded and put away

Batch of Ham & Potato Soup is in the fridge

Oatmeal & Quonia is made and in the fridge

Chicken Parm Soup is done and in the fridge

    Kitchen is clean

Also since I still find I cannot stand for extended periods of time (over half an hour) since my fall, when I needed to sit down I bumped and Price Dropped some of my items on the local buy and sell. No takers yet but I also messaged one person who did not show up yesterday and someone else who wanted an item earlier in the week but did not confirm pick up, told both unless I hear from them by the end of the weekends the items would no longer be held for them.

Other then making dinner and cleaning up from dinner, I think I am now done for the day. I have a slight ache in my back that is not going away even when I sit so I do not want to do too much.

    Have a wonderful evening everyone.

Today we are taking each of the children out for one-on-one time. I took twin girl to a second hand store that had a 50% off everythibg sale. I picked up a winter coat for her to grow into for $2. It is dark purple, but has a couple areas with staining on it, which I’m not sure that I can get out.

Then we headed to No Frills. Our local NF stopped having paper flyers delivered a few weeks ago. $24.72 + 650pts, $1 coup, 50c rebate, and pm’d 4 different products. We’re stocked up on fresh fruit and veggies again. I follow them on FB and they advertised some in store specials. 25c pomegranates and $2 cauliflower.
I bought 5 pomegraintes. I very rarely buy them and might have to eat them myself if our kids aren’t impressed with them. I’m thinking about seeing if I can make pomegranate juice by using my apple sauce seive.
    I pm’d WM $1.66/lb strawberries + 150pt personal offer.
    Pm’d Sobeys $1 celery + 250pt personal offer.
Pm’d Sobeys $1/lb navel oranges. The teller called for the supervisor. They rang it in as $1/kg. Then they called over the store owner and I helped him figure out the price per kg, but the lines were getting long at that point, so he told her to leave the price at $1/kg because it would take even longer to fix it. I paid $1.83 for 5 very large navel oranges + 100pts personal offer. So I was actually charged 45c/lb.
Pm’d Sobeys Snack Pack - 50c wub2 Caddle offer. Our son was happy when I planned it yesterday, but not so sure when I brought them back from the store. They were intended as a treat for his lunch.
    $1.97 Brenton crackers - $1 wub2 coup

Made a cake using a mix that was past it's best before date, sometimes I am not great at rotating the stuff in the pantry. Menu is planned for the week. The only groceries I need are fresh fruit and produce. I have added coffee to my list of things I can't buy regardless of how cheap they are. Lol, we have 16 bags and it's only me and the teen drinking it. So I won't buy it until I am down to 2 bags and that will be close to a year.
Friends don't let real friends pay full price.

Tonight’s supper is oven baked chicken thighs, KD, steamed fresh baby carrots, broccoli, and cauliflower.

I took a piece of loose leaf paper this morning and inventoried the freezer. I had a good idea what was in there, but now the official list is on the front of our fridge. I have one of a lot of different meats, lots of veggies and frozen fruit. I reminded our son that he can have fruit smoothies if he asks, just not for breakfast on school days.

I told Dh that I want to eat out of the freezer, then I can put some food outside in the cold for part of a day while I completely thaw the freezer. We bought this chest freezer brand new 12yrs ago and it still works great, just a bit of frost build up.

I must admit using up things is a bit of a catch 22 for me. I love to use things up and get them out of the house but at the same time deep down inside, I hate using things up as it means we need to buy more.

When it comes to items that do not expire I have been forcing myself lately to use things. I find these items are like Giftcards I tend to tuck away and wants to save them instead of enjoying them.

I am really trying to change the way I think about these things. With that being said I am pretty sure a lot of this comes from always being the one who takes care of things financially. I am always trying to plan for a rainy day and think if I do not use it we have it and won't need to buy it or if I do not spend it then we have it if we need it. Also when it comes to anything I buy that I might be able to return, I keep the tags on and the receipt until either I HAVE to use it or I exceed the return period.

I am really trying to be more realistic and enjoy things vs always worrying about the what ifs.

Thanks very much for the birthday greetings! It's so very kind of you!

Actually, I felt really bad health-wise today, so that wasn't good. My husband went to see our son for the afternoon, so I just muddled about here. I started feeling better about an hour after he came home around suppertime.

He did spoil me with a big, huggable monkey with a rose, a huge bouquet of flowers, and chocolate. Plus a card which made me bawl.

In the end, a very nice birthday. Glad I made it to 57!

I had a me day. Free brunch at casino then early dinner there (pasta with asparagus and mushrooms) . I ordered pizza, garlic bread with cheese and a burger and fries to take home for the teen for tonight/tomorrow. I have lots of change and bills to stock the house up tomorrow . I stopped at Wal-Mart and bought strawberries and a lemon. Will go grocery shopping tomorrow morning.

Need to make up a meal plan for the week. Chicken fried rice for sure since D'S HAS been asking for it. I want fish so picking some up tomorrow. Think I should make homemade burgers with salad and veggies and dip one night. Just need buns for that

I received a phone call from my neurologist’s office yesterday. The receptionist called after the doctor had left. She passed along the message. My MRI is normal. I’m supposed to stop taking the magnesium supplement since it has made my migraines significantly worse. I already stopped taking it earlier this week. I gave the rest of the new bottle to my neighbour. The neurologist left a prescription for a preventative medication, but neglected to sign it. I called my pharmacy to confirm, then called the receptionist back. The orescription was for a medication that I have already tried without success. I told the receptionist and reminded her of the medication he had discussed with me at my appointment. She took note and told me that he wrote the prescription without even having my file in front of him. I guess he does what he wants on Fridays...like my appointment at the beginning of the month. My pharmacy should receive the correct prescription on Monday. I’m hoping that it works for me. We’ve been doing more research on the suggested medication and it might be a bad idea with my blood thinner. Here we go again...I’ll have to call the office on Monday and see what the other options are.
