Cleaned up the budget today before the weekend.
All bills paid. Pre-paid cell phone bill and internet bill.
Still have change/bills saved in envelope for groceries to use this weekend if we need anything (don't plan on shopping we are pretty stocked for good meals the next while)
Cash in wallet will cover dinner out tomorrow night with friends.

My biggest one is STAY AWAY FROM YARN STORES in person and online.

I want to pay our property taxesin full b4 the cut off date so we get the discount

Do our taxes early. Keep bringing in the "extra" money from my side job but put it towards a trip for us rather than trips for the boys all the time. Our youngest is going to peru in april and June is hawaii... i dont even have a passport.

Just cleaned out my purse and decided to start my 2019/2020 Hockey savings. So have $12 to start! (we pay $4 gate fee each game so nice to have it set aside and not worry about it)

My most important goal would be sorting out my life since I will be graduating this May and need to get my finances sorted out to be able to repay my OSAP loans and Line of Credit back from schooling in a reasonable amount of time (I would like within two years). Not 100% sure what I am going to do after graduation, but have a few ideas in place...

    - Stay in St.Catharines/Thorold (Not moving back in with my parents unless absolutely necessary)
    - Get some jobs working for Brock as a Marker/Grader (Pay is in the high $20/hr or low $20/hr depending on the course)
    - Also Uber with my car (Maybe the delivery, not really sure yet)
    - Also another job working anywhere (Foodland, Rexall, etc)

So with those jobs, I should be able to pay rent, bills, and loans (hopefully put some money into savings too and start working my way towards a down payment for a house)

Plan is to eventually move out east (New Brunswick) where the cost of living will be a lot cheaper for me (Combining couponing with lower house prices, along with other lower costs)

Nothing is truly set in stone as of yet, but if something great and amazing comes up, I may stay in Ontario instead

Did you see that the town of McAdam, NB is offering plots of land for $1? Couple of provisos - you have to build a house within 2 years, can’t transfer land until house built etc but looks fair

I know it’s tough to start this system, but once you have it going, it takes all the stress off of the taxes.

I started up a completely separate bank account - added up all taxes, house insurance and car insurance and other big bills that come up once a year - divided by 12 and had that amount swept out of my chequing account each month. That way - when the bill comes due - money is there. Saves interest payments to the car insurance companies and if I am being really smart - can charge the insurance on my credit card - delaying the payment by an extra month and get my points.

Just have to remember to adjust the transfers each year when the taxes etc go up.

Right now my goals are to limit take out, we are bad for this as it is really our treat. We got it down significantly last year but I know we can do even better this year.

Also we need to purge our house and as easy as it would be to toss and donate things, I want to sell what I can to put away for future renovations. We have decided there really isn't anything big we want to tackle on the house but I would like to buy some storage pieces and we need to paint for sure.

My goal for 2019 is not something I can control but I need DH to return to work. I want to retire in 7 years and so we need the second income to make that happen. I feel we have maxed out all the savings opportunities and in the fall we should have a child in college so we really need to stay on top of finances.

Oh i definitely prefer it to be in full - when we got our mortgage they calculated the taxes at 56 dollars a month whichwas WAY low... you dont get 2800 dollars in 12 months with 56 dollars. So i refused to have it in our mortgage. The kicker for saving this year for the last 5 months is the pending strike for my partner.

I just added loonies to my 2019/2020 hockey pot. Total is at $56.

I had extra money from casino win so decided to do 20x the points at SDM to stock the house up and get points. Total was $65.92 but after coupons I paid $46 and I received 18,600 PC pts.

Credit card paid in full with a bit of a credit. Moving $180 in food budget to next period. Going to try and use up what we have and shop light the next 2 weeks so the food budget can move forward.

I have $95 cash in my wallet for spending and $200 tucked away in wallet to put towards Plate renewal and DL renewal. Still have some visa prepaid cards to use up. I need new running shoes so will use them for that.
March should be a good frugal month. I should look at March break and book free hotel room at casino and let DS take a friend. We can swim and eat for free.

i am planning ahead fo r Marchand April.
once money hits the bank... pay, and medical stuff.. it all has a place to go .
i bought tickets to see a show with dh for his birthday. that is in April.. show is in June. it will be good for us
i am sticking with a lower grocery month for march. i am doing some airmiles bonuses.. so once they hit .. and the freezer is a tad empiter , i will cash them in at sobeys for meat .
i put 200 extra toward the Mortage. that is on track and i am happy with it.

all in all i feel in control.
taxes will be done withon 2 weeks hopefully. and i have a plan for that as well....lol
