As an additional layer to this, before and after people did such things, a number of them told others what they were planning to do or had done, thereby making it more likely that some of those others would also do things they shouldn't. And to compound this further, it's not like none of those people told no one, either before or after .
This is an example of lowest common denominator thinking, in the vein of "if it's okay for them, it's okay for me too even though I know it's not a good idea". While basically everyone does this at times, it's seldom if ever a good thing to lower one's standards because other people's are lower.

I heard on the news today the Premier Ford will be making some announcements. I can see a lockdown in Ontario's future soon.

We are already in a province wide lockdown. Problem is there is no enforcement of anything and it is all tepid! All Ford does is blather on about crap. As does Mayor Tory of Toronto. Both useless bollocks! When asked about curfews they say ...ohhh buttt it would be hard to do ... oh please be nice and ...
It will get so much worse here before anything is done

To comment on both of your and Shwa Girls comments, personally I feel Ford caved to the pressure, the lockdown should have start Christmas Eve, not Boxing Day.
I had a conversation with someone before we Christmas, where they live was only in the red zone or maybe orange. We were discussing would the whole province goes into lockdown and there feelings were, if we do go into lockdown they are being punished for the fact that Toronto, Peel & York Region cannot get their numbers down. Because of this their family had decided even if Lockdown was announced they were not changing their plans for Christmas & New Years. They felt they were not in the Grey, there area was "safe"
As much as I understand the colour system I also think backfires. Just travel to where they think is "safe"
I have heard a number of people say oh we aren't in the red or grey where we live is "safe," we can have people over it is safe to attend events. Or people who are in the Grey or Red travelling to other areas, it is just frustrating as we just continue to see our numbers going up.

Our governments weren't willing to act decisively months ago when the more restrictive measures we're starting to see now anyway would have helped to keep the second wave from being so severe. So unfortunately, I doubt we've seen the worst yet either.
And we're only in lockdown lite.

So please define lockdown lite vs lockdown. I would like to learn the difference. Official definitions please. Thanks

It's seems self-evident, at least to me, that since the restrictions are being significantly tightened, the ones so far must be lite. Also, it's interesting to see what steps other governments have taken, especially those in places that have experienced less severe second waves.

I think we can go even further back than Christmas. Like in the summer. The Toronto health doctor, Eileen de Villa, wanted a 28 day lock down. People were mocking her. Ford did not listen to her. Then come Fall, numbers started to double. Then Ford started to listen.
I'm kinda angry that politicians who don't know epidemiology or public health or viruses, think they can make decisions about a pandemic or viruses or health.

last night at 8 PM, Montreal was a virtual ghost town. We live just 30 minutes from Montreal and our town was a ghost town also. Yes there were stupid protestors last night and the police handed out tickets for breaking the curfew laws. But all in all it looks like the people are respecting the law. It seemed eerie not seeing anyone walking about or driving. I think other provinces should have a curfew; maybe just maybe the spread of Covid-19 could slow down.
I understand that businesses are suffering economically because of lockdowns but if lockdowns help to save lives, dont you think its worth it. Businesses have to get creative. There is a solution of every problem; you just need to get creative and adapt. I watch Your Morning and The Marilyn Dennis show and they are always showing how people are getting creative with their businesses.

Well, over the weekend the Police issued about 740 tickets for curfew infractions. And i know that there are some really STUPID people out there but this one takes the cake. We are allowed to walk our dogs within a mile of our homes after 8PM. This woman and her husband decided to go for a walk but didnt have a dog. so the wife put a leash on her husband and they were walking. The police stopped them and they each got a $1,500 fine. Stupid is as stupid does.

In some places, the police and the bylaw officers have been issuing tickets and fines.
In some places, neighbours are looking at out of town people and are not afraid to call it in.
In some places, police are posting in the media, when they have fined people.

I applaud the efforts that have been done. IMHO so much more has to happen.
