Well today was a day of deadheading and trimming off stems. So sad to see things go this early. My garden is still 2 weeks early which means the peak for some plants is done. Daylilies, hydrangeas are turning green, wave petunias got a good trim today as they are getting leggy.

I also spent a good hour digging out crabgrass and weeds on the back lawn, they sure do love a good drought. i broke down and watered the grass even though it is just hay now. They say we will be in drought conditions until mid august.

Oh I also pulled out those crappy tomato plants and planted a couple of colocasia (elephant ears) that I got at CT for half price. At least i will be able to keep the tubers after.

I love looking at all your flowers.
Right now my knock out rose plant is blooming for the 2nd time this season.
The phlox are beginning to bloom and the Rudbeckia.
The geraniums are looking good.
Heliopsis are starting to bloom too.

Well I'm tired and sore but the job is finally done. I lifted every one of those blocks and leveled them out and raised them up with sand. They run from one end of the garden to the other.

The next project is getting that getting that grass growing against the fence again, probably will save that for the fall though.
I see my Frans Hals daylily is blooming, I'll try to get a picture later today, it only brought one stalk with two buds on it this year. I was a bit bummed about that.

Oh the transformation was well worth all the muscle you exerted! Looks very inviting!!

I second that I would also have collapsed working in this heat! DH tried washing out our compost bins, left a large amount of water in each yesterday to soak, and now there's barely any left in there!

What did you plant in your shady spot? We have quite a few shady spots that I don't know what to do with in our garden!

Not blooming in our garden yet, but we picked up several asiatic and oriental lilies today. Some of them had bloomed and were beheaded so I had to do a google images search on what they looked like. It was a surprise to see what they looked like! So far, we have Vermeer, Stargazer, Curie, Farolito, Muscadet, and Souvenir. A few years ago, I tried to plant a Stargazer, but it didn't come back the following year. It turned out that something had eaten the bulb. Miscreants!!

It's lily time! Three daylilies and one hybrid lily...the pink one is called Purple Prince, I believe.
