I was thinking of switching from Gain to Arm & Hammer. I saw the latest discussion on laundry soap below my thread so I decided to ask about A&H too LOL. Does anyone use the basic yellow bottle that I see on sale for about $3 frequently? I have some $1.00 off coupons and I snagged a BOGO so it would be a really good deal! We are trying to cut corners as much as we can right now. Does it clean well as Tide or Gain and does it leave a nice scent? What is your experience with it?

It depends on the type of washer you have. I was never able to use it with my regular washer, it didn't clean well. Now that I have an HE set, I find it works the same as the expensive brands. I'm fine with the smell, but that is a personal preference.

I use it frequently. I don't mind it at all, but I do find it doesn't leave a scent.

Thanks I don't mind if it doesn't smell much. I figured that the dryer sheets will make up for it.

I love it. Great if you do not like heavily scented washing liquid. Cleans well.

It leaves an "off" smell on your clothes. Even after the dryer sheets... you can still smell it. I don't like to pay big bucks for our laundry detergent... but I find the "no name" or Xtra does a better job than Arm & Hammer...
If you can use Sunlight, it often goes on sale for around $3.47 and there are $1.50 coupons out from save.ca..... that makes it a great deal.
After you use it.. tell us what you think

I used to use Gain. Loved the smell. Switched to Arm and Hammer for the deals. I have a high efficiency washer and dryer. All of my towels are white. This is a challenge when my husband and son use the them without thoroughly washing their hands first! They go into the washing machine looking black and come out looking hotel towel white. No issues with smell either other than they don't smell as perfumey (i know that's not a word!) as when I used Gain. Worth the switch in my opinion.

I LOVE Arm and Hammer! I love the subtle scent, the cleaning capabilities, it gets rid of bad odors from my hubbys clothes, both kids have sensitive skin and they tolerate it well, its always on sale and i always find coupons. have been using it about 6 months now, and i wont go back to tide or gain.

I've been using it. The price is right for me. I don't mind the smell, but then I hang my clothes outside to dry.

I don't mind A&H either although like another poster, I do find there's sometimes an unusual smell after. It's not a horrible gag smell and I can't place my finger on it other than to describe it as "unusual." Weird thing is, the smell isn't always there so I can't figure out why it's there on rare occasions but not others. Generally, if I find it unpleasant, I just re-wash the load. I have a HE washer so we only use a tbsp of detergent in the load.
Growing up my mom was a big Tide user and she put the fear of god into me about using anything else. LOL. But I found Tide too expensive and overpowering with the stench of chemicals. Then one day I got some coupons and thought, what the heck- I figured I would try it out. Truth be told, it cleans just as well as Tide or Sunlight (sorry mom!)"Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken." Oscar Widle
