are we even allowed to call it christmas anymore?
I can't profess to understand God's plan. Christ promised the resurrection of the dead. I just thought he had something a little different in mind.

I'm glad that SDM called off the holiday music for a while longer. December's soon enough to turn on the Christmas tunes (and, frankly, some of the commercial muzak is sooooo awful!). I wish there was less direct Christmas merchandising right now. Sure, you can do your holiday shopping now (or earlier!), but do we need aisles full of decorations and knick-knacks already?
And I like saying "Happy Holidays!" Christmas is a holiday (which comes from mashing up the words holy and day so, hey, that's pretty special!). "Happy Holidays" is a nice thing to say to my co-worker who's celebrating Hanukkah, not Christmas, as well as the family down the street who follow Hindi practices. It's also nice to say to my many Christian relatives and friends as well as a lot of folks about whose religious beliefs I have no idea!
"Happy Holidays" includes people of all beliefs and doesn't exclude anyone. Why wouldn't people appreciate it? When I say it, I'm not being politically correct, I'm being happy about the season and hoping you'll be, too. (Just not quite yet because the holidays are a long ways away according to my jam-packed work schedule.)

I just feel blessed that for so many of us, worrying about what music is playing in the store that we are shopping at is the biggest of our worries.

Kenyan policeman killed, 11 injured in church attack.
A grenade attack on a church in a police compound in eastern Kenya has killed one police officer and injured at least 11 other people, reports say.
The man who died was serving as pastor of the targeted church, in Garissa town near the border with Somalia.
Most of the wounded are also reported to be police officers; some of whom were airlifted to hospital in Nairobi.

oh gosh, i hadn't realized this turned into a "they're taking away christmas from us" thread.
i think everyone can get along, nicely and be happy for each other no matter what time of year it is.
but yeah, 2 months of muzak is a bit too much.In 2020 I had 100 FREE Grocery pickups! Subscribe to PC Optimum Insiders & get 25,000 PC Optimum pts

I cannot stand hearing Christmas music this early! As a teacher I see the effect it has on the kids that I teach. It gets the kids all excited about something that isn't happening for 2 more months. Young children don't always understand that Santa isn't coming for quite awhile yet.
More personally, while I enjoy Christmas music, I prefer to hear it in December. It gets tiring to hear the same songs over and over again. It makes me agitated and angry to hear this music for so long. By the time Christmas actually comes I find I'm so tired of it that the Christmas spirit has dissipated or disappeared altogether.

Ha I saw on their Facebook post that someone is threatening to rally 20 people to picket in front of their shoppers singing christmas songs in protest. My only thought is-Wow if people would care and be so proactive about real issues, the World would be a much better place...
