My nick name come from my second youngest cousin, they always called me cousin Ashley but she couldn't say it properly it came out cuzzy sassy, we dropped the cousin part but to this day people still call me Sassy, mostly family members.
For the most part I do not mind, it was kind of odd when the boys (bro and cousin) keep walking around out office calling me Sassy, so I had to explain to all of my co workers why they keep calling me Sassy.

Story behind the name? Mine is pretty obvious. But, it came at a time when I was on Mat leave and struggling with the adjustment of loving being a career woman (I was 39 1/2 when he was born) and struggling with being a new mom. We had moved to a new city, new home (which was a pit, as I explained somewhere else, it was a foreclosure that needs ALOT of work.) and he had REALLY bad reflux. I kind of made up my mind then that as he was a gift, I needed to treasure him and all the time that I spend with him. Now at church, and other things we are involved in, I really love it when people say that I am " Matty's mom" instead of the title(s) that I used to have. I am a VERY Proud Mama!

UGG! My 2nd had horrible reflux. I'm totally traumatized. She was a lesson for me in insisting something is wrong when the doc's give you the "every baby does it" speech. Nobody would believe me that she was puking so much. To prove to them there was something wrong, I had her weighed at the doc's on a Monday then again on a Friday. And she'd lost weight! I remember the doc saying to me "Then bring her in on Friday and the nurse will weight her. If she feels it necessary then I'll see her" Like I was some paranoid overreacting mother or something. But I did see the doc that Friday!
And that was the start of our year long journey through several specialists and different medication to get her reflux under control. She was a totally different child once they found something that worked for her. I still feel bad for how much she must have suffered her first few weeks.
Okay, I'll stop going on about the horrors of reflux in babies!!
My name is cause I'm Insane! LOL

It is so true about the medicine. He was a far happier baby once he was on the medicine as well. I was able to get him diagnosed early @ 2 1/2 months. I was reading the Baby Centre Site (americian one) and a lady had posted all about her little one and what she looked like. It was if her little one and Matty were the same baby. The difference was that Matty (and her child) were regurgitating all the time- so he was ALWAYS swallowing. I was always afraid he was going to choke. Some nights when it was really bad- I didn't sleep.

I just entered all five of my SYB codes to make sure I get them lol.
What is everyone up to today?
I bought two wagjags for the conklin fair here in brantford today.
Pretty good deal I thought. For $20 you get:
-two ride all day bracelets
-cotton candy or popcorn each
-two drinks
-two teddy bears
So I bought two and we will be going for an hour or two at lunch time when it opens.
I spent about $20 for the three kids combined baskets and I feel awesome about that!
The best part is how pleased they are. Its still "lots". To us, its not a second Christmas
Girls 10 and 7 got:
ice cream cone bubbles 1.99 at shoppers
jelly beans shaped like a carrot $1
disney necklace from avon (free found in closet forgotten about)
nail polish 1.99
small choc bunny 1.49
Peeps and scoops to share. 3.49
My son who is 4 got:
A big plastic egg full of marbles $2 at dollarama
a big ball that lights up (another closet find so free!)
small choc bunny that my husband will eat 1.49
I got wii dance 4 for free with my points for them to share.
How does your family "do" Easter?

Caseythegoalie
I made use of the dollar store and valentines for DS bunny bag. I made him this super cute (if I may say so myself) bunny face bag for Easter two years ago. This year I splurged a bit.
Kinder Eggs set of three $2.50
Spiderman Puzzle $1.50
Lindt chocolate hearts $.49
Chick in egg (that grows) $1.50
Dinosaur Crayons $.50 Valentines that I recycled the boxes and put in a baggy)
A small magic erase pad (that I found in my drawer)
A Max and Ruby CD from Zellers liquidation for $5.25 (tax included)
So my total was ~ $13 with taxes.
By the time I got out of bed- he had one kinder egg eaten and a lindt chocolate unwrapped and ready to go! LOL! (He was a bit hyper at church today...LOL!)ROAK a Huggies or Pampers code to my local pregnancy centre- toys, clothes, food & diapers always needed!

Well I'm glad to be continuing this for April, as you might/might not be aware I join for lent which is now over...How did I do? Over all not bad.
I say that because the first couple of weeks the budget wasn't going down, but by week 3 it started to. Now there were 2 weeks when it was higher but that was because 1 week ground beef was on sale and the next week chicken was on sale, so whenever I see meat on sale the budget goes out the window as I have to stock up.
I have now gone 2 weeks without picking up fast food whether Pizza, McDonald, Swiss chalet etc. and that for us is HUGE as we would do that once and sometimes twice per week.
I have been doing meal plans for the last 2 weeks, this is my third week doing it. And this has been an amazing help. We know what we are having (I try to make stuff that we love) and so far so good.
I have even started baking (keeping it simple) only cookies, cupcake, and just your basics cake, so far the cookies and cupcakes are my best, the cake is alright but I don't use eggs so I'll continue to work on it. But with even doing those it has kept alot of snacks out of the grocery cart which has been a big help. I also make my own rice krispies squares. I'm going to start making my own granola bars today. Lets see how they turn out, but I've learnt a lot in the last 6 weeks, and I know I'll continue to learn more from all you frugal and smart ladies.
So thanks to all of you...this thread/s have been a BIG help to me, to the way I budget, shop, prepare meals etc. Let's continue to help and support each other as we continue to manage our finances better, as we continue on into April.
