Thread: Best gifts for kids?
-
Sat, Jul 20th, 2013, 11:15 AM #1
I'm starting to think of Christmas and want to start buying kids presents - so my question is what are some "hit" presents? Toys that your kids absolutely loved or got a lot of use out of? What's popular?
I thought maybe we could all post and help each other with ideas!
Whenever possible please post age range, approximate cost and where to buy.

I found a lot of fantastic reviews for the Stomp Rocket so I decided to buy one for DD's friends birthday next weekend (turning 5).
Stomp Rocket JR - approximately $20 on Amazon.ca - age range said 4-8 (but safe for 3+).

good thread indeed, christmas in july.. already have two gifts bought. well a stocking stuffer for each.
bought my son a fleece snuggle at a garage sale for $4. they lady said it just 'wasn't her'. she received it as a gift. well my son is continually bringing his comforter downstairs to watch movies. this was the perfect gift for him.. at 19 what else do you buy them. this year im thinking Gc's. im going to wait until they are both in college to decide the rest. it was so much easier when they were younger.. a DS was HUGE.. pfft.Be Strong

I'm hoping to hit the Disney outlet while passing through Toronto in a few weeks. Anything princess should be good I think (ages 5 to 8).
In the past my kids have gotten so many toys - most were barely played with! Hoping to spend less money this year and just buy toys the kids will love (and get use of).

Board games like Cranium for kids was a hit with my nieces (6&9 back then). Boy (5) loves LEGO. Im thinking Chapters will have Lego on special for sure one of the 5 days of specials this week. Girl (3) Loves tea sets. Plus CandyLand and Snakes & Ladders has been fun or them.
I also shop ahead of time for gifts. Can't stand the thought of paying full price for toys especially.

Candy land! Yes! You're absolutely right. DD likes it so much we now have 3 versions (regular, princess and a train kind). I'm planning Candyland as her birthday theme.
We're just starting to collect board games and the kids love them!

Art stuff and outdoor play items are always a hit with my guys. I buy paints, paper, bicycles, sleds, all those sorts of things for them. Oh and lego and books.
Love like crazy everyday and smile.

Oh I forgot about Busytown "I found it!" board game. It is a cooperative game so either everyone wins or loses together. Good for helping my kids to learn to help each other. Plus they love searching for items on a HuGE game board. Bit pricey but awesome game!

Anything monster high for 8-10 year olds.
My 10 month old LOVES the Fisher Price Laugh and Learn Puppy, I think it retails for 50ish at TRU and Walmart but I got it at Zellers before it closed with the 5.00 off Websaver coupon. She also loves these

We got them for her for Easter and they amuse her for the longest time.

Yahoo! The Stomp Rocket was a huge HIT! The little boy's face lit up when he opened it. He said his favourite presents were the rocket and an army vehicle set.
