I love hanging my clothes outside I do it most of the year even the winter.
But I think I need to have a chat with the birds as they keep leaving little surprises on my clothes at the end of the line....grrr.2019 is the year that we continue to save before we buy!!!

While line drying is great, there are a few things that spoil it for me ....
- the neighbours BBQing fish twice a day - your clean clothes end up smelling like their food.
- bird poop - I've found it on my clean clothes
- iffy weather - it's about to rain, no it's not, it drizzling, it stopped, it's raining cats and dogs, the sun is out. I can't take having to hang the clothes up and take them down again while their still wet, and then hang them back up again.
- windy days when your clean towel gets wrapped around the clothesline and it doesn't want to budge
- wasps buzzing around while you're trying to hang the laundry.
- and living in the big city, we had a problem a few years back where clothes would disappear off the lines. Yes, someone was going around through the alleys and stealing clothes off clotheslines.

I love putting the clothes on the line.....until my A$$ hole neighbour watches me hang the stuff out and then decides to light a fire just to be a jerk!!!! Seriously the people are the worst neighbours ever!!!

Sorry my former neighbour moved next to you. I hadn't realised she'd followed me overseas. That was one ichy-b lady.
She once phoned me at 2 am because her fence blew down during the winter and she wanted a 6 month pregnant me to go out in the snow and replace it on my own even though she had 2 grown up sons, one of whom still lived at her house, as well as a married daughter and her own husband.
Naturally I declined her demands and the following day, I had a look at it and informed her that
1) it wasn't my fence but hers
2) if her husband, sons or son-in-law needed help then they would need to wait until the week-end for Mr P to be available
after her calling me some choice phrases including ciserable munt, the neighbour on the other side of her came out and moved the fence for her..
Short answer : no Long answer : NOOOOOOOOOOO!

Our clothesline project is becoming a full summer project. We are trying to do it on the cheap after finding out that it would cost over $500 for someone to dig a hole and put in the post. So...a friend has a boxed line and pulley that they bought several years ago and never put up. I bought that for $20. DH went to the local scrap yard and bought a 20 ft metal pole for $35 - then had to find someone to deliver it to our town - $ 40. He dug 2 feet down and found that since we are sitting on a rock - there are lots of rocks - so had to go to a neighbouring town and rent a post hole digger - $16. While he was taking the digger back - had to pick up the cement $27. So...I have a 4 ft hole, a 20 ft post, cement and the line - all here now! Just have to get them to meet up - I think that is supposed to happen this weekend - AND they are calling for more sun next week! Maybe - I will get to hang some clothes out BEFORE the rains return.

Woohooo! Hung the sheets out yesterday even though today is wash day!! Amazing what little things will keep wives happy.
Ohh...the other thing who found my 2 day new clothesline is the hummingbird who viciously protects his territory. Oh well - we can share.

In my basement I have 3 lines hanging under the duct work for my furnace.
This is great because the heat that radiates from the ducts when the furnace is on helps dry everything faster!Last edited by i_forget; Tue, Apr 15th, 2014 at 05:38 PM.
Love like crazy everyday and smile.
